‘Why So Blue’ was a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Paul McCartney’s 14th solo album Memory Almost Full.

McCartney initially recorded a faster version of ‘Why So Blue’ with his band in October 2003 at Abbey Road Studios. This was evidently deemed unsatisfactory, for he re-recorded a solo version with producer Nigel Godrich the following year during the Chaos And Creation In The Backyard sessions. Only one take was laid down before McCartney moved on.

The final version was produced by David Kahne in 2006, at McCartney’s Hog Hill Mill studio.
