‘Good Sign’ was a b-side of Paul McCartney’s ‘This One’ single.
It was started on 2 June 1988 at McCartney’s Hog Hill Mill studio, during the Flowers In The Dirt album sessions. The song was completed on 8 December at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles.
‘Good Sign’ was a contender for the album, but was removed at a late stage.
The release
‘This One’ was released as a single on 17 July 1989, the second to be taken from Flowers In The Dirt.
The single reached number 8 in Austria, and 18 in the UK. In the US it fared less well, peaking at number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100.
There were three 12″ vinyl singles, one of which contained the additional tracks ‘The First Stone’ and ‘Good Sign’.
A promotional 12″ was also issued, which contained ‘Good Sign’ (Groove Mix), not available elsewhere.
