‘Call Me Back Again’ is the tenth song on Wings’s Venus And Mars album.

The song was written by Paul McCartney in the spring of 1974 in California, while he was staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

That’s one I wrote about a year ago in Los Angeles, in the Beverly Hills. I had an electric piano and thought of this tune. I wrote a few words for it and thought I’d write a few more, but I never did!

‘Call Me Back Again’ was recorded on 3 February 1975 at Allen Toussaint’s Sea Saint Studios in New Orleans. Overdubs, including the trumpet and saxophone parts, were added three days later.

I just ad-libbed a bit and had a go. It was a chance to sing. Then we put the brass on it – I like the brass on it. Tony Dorsey helped me on that in New Orleans.

The song was performed throughout the Wings Over The World Tour. A performance from the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati on 27 May 1976 was included on the live album Wings Over America.

‘Call Me Back Again’ was included on the 2001 compilation Wingspan: Hits And History.

In September 2014, to coincide with the Paul McCartney Archive Collection reissue of Venus And Mars, a new animated video to accompany ‘Call Me Back Again’ was released.

In the same month, the 4: John Paul George Ringo digital EP was released on the iTunes Store. It contained ‘Call Me Back Again’, along with ‘Love’ by John Lennon, ‘Let It Down’ by George Harrison, and ‘Walk With You’ by Ringo Starr.
