Wingspan: Hits And History is a 2001 compilation bringing together solo and Wings songs by Paul McCartney.
Its scope ranges from his first solo album, 1970’s McCartney, to 1984’s Give My Regards To Broad Street soundtrack. It was remastered by Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios.
The collection contains two discs. The first features some of McCartney’s most commercially-successful releases, while the second contains some lesser-known songs.
There are songs on there that strictly speaking aren’t Wings. We’ve stretched the envelope a little bit – it’s called Paul McCartney and Wings. And I always like value for money. You get all this music – over 2½ hours of it – for the price of one CD…I think there’s a lot of good stuff here, a pretty good selection.

Wingspan: Hits And History was released to coincide with the broadcast of a TV documentary, Wingspan. The documentary was produced by Mary McCartney, and covered the breakup of The Beatles, McCartney’s relationship with his first wife Linda, and the story of Wings.
The collection was a commercial success, charting at number two on the Billboard 200, and remaining in the chart for 14 weeks. In the UK it peaked at number five, and was also a top 10 hit in Canada and Norway.
Are any of these tracks sourced from Wings Over America? Or are they all studio versions?
