This page contains all the key John Lennon key albums, sorted chronologically and alphabetically. You can also find more information via the John Lennon songs index.
No Lennon compilations, of which there have been many, are included. The main exception to this is the Signature Box, which includes bonus material not available separately, and is also a great one-stop for getting hold of Lennon’s key album releases and non-album singles.
Walls and Bridges has always been my favorite Lennon album since it was released in 1974.
I agree. Shaved Fish is excellent! I love it. If you’re only going to buy one Lennon album, Shaved Fish should be the one.
I wonder why “Shaved fish” isn’t included in this list, it was released in autumn 1975, and it was also my first JL album, which incited me to buy-as often as I could afford it in those days-all the other available Lennon LPs! I was a lennon fan 5 years prior to the murder, and at the time, it was the only LP featuring “Cold turckey, Instant karma, Power to the people, happy Xmas, and a very edited Give peace a chance. John chose himself the tracks he wanted on that compilation, the only solo one he released during his lifetime.
Yep, Same here.
Honestly I got to go with imagine. It’s a great album.
Plastic Ono Band is by far his best album for me
My favourites are John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Double Fantasy, Milk and Honey, John Lennon Collection, Legend and Live in New York City.
I would say (IMHO) that about half of POB & half of “Imagine” would make up John’s finest studio album overall, although there are a number of later tracks that I like.
First Lennon LP that I actually owned was “Shaved Fish”, even though I already had a number of the singles that were on it.
