‘Shanghai Surprise’ was the title track of the 1986 comedy film starring Madonna and Sean Penn.

It was written and recorded by George Harrison, whose company HandMade Films produced it the film.

Harrison appeared as a nightclub singer in the film, and recorded a number of songs for the soundtrack, including ‘Hottest Gong In Town’, ‘Breath Away From Heaven’, and ‘Someplace Else’.

The soundtrack was never officially released, but a promotional single of ‘Shanghai Surprise’ was pressed and distributed to some media outlets.
