Those Beatles sure look incredible in late 1965.
I love this other Help ! promo they shot.

I always felt bad for Ringo in the Help ! video LOL (also in Paperback Writer , or was it Rain ?)
What exactly is the ”I feel fine (fish and chips) promo”? Is that the one in which they’re just sitting on the ground eating for the whole video?

Yip, its so darn bizarre why it was filmed in the first place and no surprise that Brian blocked it immediately. If Apple had any sense they will release it in a complete promo vids box but more than likely it will never see an official release.

I would have posted the brilliant I Feel Fine ‘Fish and Chips’ promo but Apple have been up to their old tricks again and banned the ones that were on youtube.
I couldn’t find a Fish and Chips one but I found this one with Ringo on an exercise bike.

As opposed to the other three standing, Ringo is the one standing and the other three are sitting down.Oh, and your quote says you own the copyright for your posts. Even the Youtube video? =P
I do think that you knew what my sig meant, it was referring to my own personal hand-drawn work. However, it’s now been edited.
Thanks for commenting.

Maybe this is for a separate topic, but I can’t imagine where… I’m so fascinated by these pre-MTV promos. You’d think music videos were never made prior to 1981 the way some people talk. For those who were around, do you remember seeing these back then? Were they played during TV shows like American Bandstand or the BBC pop music shows? I can’t imagine they had many outlets or got much airplay.

Yeah, they would be shown on variety shows. I believe the Paperback Writer clip premiered here in the US on the Ed Sullivan show. I could be wrong, but I don’t think too many acts did promo films – mainly just live (and by live I mean lip sync) appearances on Bandstand, Hullabaloo, Ed Sullivan, etc.
I feel bad for poor Ringo being stuck w/ the umbrella and exercise bike. wtf? At least he was a good sport about it. I’ve seen lots of clips from those 60s music shows, and the concepts for the sets were often quite wacky. I’ve seen one of the Mamas & Papas “California Dreaming” where they’re surrounded by claw foot bathtubs and in the middle of the song, go-go dancers pop up out of the tubs. Gotta love the 60s.

The promos were filmed and sold to shows around the world in the UK these included Top of The Pops and Thank Your Lucky Stars. Despite the great hullaballoo over Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody the beatles were years ahead with music videos.

Thanks, mmm. It surprises me that more isn’t made at least of the videos for Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.

More might be done if they were commercially available but it makes far more sense to leave them on a few computers and in the vaults of Apple – of course they have to be remastered first. Only right they look good when Apple execs want to watch one back.

I borrowed Band On The Run – the Paul McCartney Archive Collection edition with a bonus DVD. I’m enjoying the videos – particularly the 70s animation. :->
Mamunia video (interesting how the animated character resembles John and the guy in the mac and boots at the end feels like a reference to George’s All Things Must Pass album cover)
Osterley Park (making of the album cover)
One Hand Clapping (documentary)

I love the Band On The Run video. Such a strange beast. Is there any other solo video that’s quite as Beatles (excluding some of John’s post-death videos). I know that Coming Up and When We Was Fab give knowing nods and winks, but really! It’s almost like a dry run for Free As A Bird .
and for those who had questions when I first posted this in another thread
