Long Version: Let's pretend that you live in the future. You discover an iPod, or MP3 player, or whatever, that has the entire Beatles catalogue on it. The studio albums, Anthology, everything. However, it does not have any of the albums listed and all the songs are on shuffle. You give it a listen, and, since you are a Beatles fan by nature, you like it. You decide to organize some songs into an album, just for fun.
Short Version: If you could make an album out of any Beatles songs (from any time period), what would the track listing look like?
You can make as many albums as you want. I'm going to refrain for right now, mostly because I have no clue (well, maybe a little clue) what I'd do. I'm going to try to have as few songs from the same album as possible.

This is a cool idea… It would go something like this:
1. Something
2. Hey Jude
3. Across The Universe (I like the Blue Album version better than Past Masters )
4. If I Fell
5. I Need You
7. Let It Be
8. This Boy
10. I'm Looking Through You
11. She's Leaving Home
12. Happiness Is A Warm Gun (I would put on more White Album stuff, but since each song is the beginning of the end)
13. Come Together
14. The End (kind of obvious)
I don't know how it would work out, but those songs I would choose for an album. Not because they are my favorites, they just make an album complete. It's about 10:30 in CT now, and I'm a little weary, so I will rearrange the order if something doesn't sound right. I'm not that knowledgeable on Anthology (I know, I know, bad Jill), so I will check it out and probably make changes.

1. I Saw Her Standing There (Even though this is the whole thing, going without this countdown seems, sacrilegious.)
2. Think For Yourself (GEORGE!! Your argument is invalid.)
3. Rain (Rain , I don’t mind)
4. Not Guilty (I like my George sarcastic, okay?)
5. Michelle (Paul’s French is like Jack Layton’s. So cute.)
6. A Day In The Life (NO EXPLANTION NEEDED.)
7. Anna (I love this song; even if you hate it, I still love it)
8. Come Together
9. Something
10. Long and Winding Road (again, another favourite. I’ll explain more after the list.)
11. Good Night
12. Strawberry Fields
13. Eleanor Rigby
14. For No One (sans last chorus)
Okay, I added two offbeat choices. I love Anna simy because it brings back this fleeting memory of my old house, and that memory makes me happy. With the LAWR, I just like the song, even with Spector’s production. I think I actually prefer Spector’s over LIBN or Anthology 3 . So there is my list.

That means that it ends at “You won't forget her,” right?
(YAY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!)

M3, you brought that idea up a while back. That seems like a great line to end an album with, don’t you agree?
(Okay, I am going to the States tomorrow. If I don’t make it back alive, it’s Texas’ fault. Okay?)

4 December 2010
I posted this one a while back. It’s called “Revolution “, and it features solo John and George songs plus Traveling Wilburys song mixed in with Revolution 9 . It’s a rock opera, starring George Harrison as The Fool On The Hill , John multi-rolling as William, the Sun King , the narrator and the general public and Paul as the narrator.
Side/disk 1:
The Beatles – Tomorrow Never Knows
The Beatles – Sun King
The Beatles- The Fool On The Hill
George Harrison – Beware Of Darkness (demo version)
John Lennon – Oh My Love
The Beatles – Polythene Pam (Anthology version)
The Beatles – Run For Your Life
The Beatles – Happiness Is A Warm Gun
The Beatles – The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill
The Beatles – Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
The Beatles – I Am The Walrus
The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Anthology Version)
Tomorrow Never Knows is an introduction- you must turn off your mind and just focus on the music.
The Sun King is the evil ruler of Earth, blocking out the sun and hyponotising the inhabiants of Earth from realising that they are cold and in darkness (Sun King ). Only one is immune from his hyponotism, the one that the inhabitants of Earth call The Fool, who lives on his hill, and often tries to convince the others that they, not he, are insane (The Fool On The Hill ). One day, as the Sun King parades through town, followed by his devoted subjects, the Fool grabs the arm of a young man named William, and tells him to beware of the cold and the dark (Beware Of Darkness ). William is overcome by emotion, as he too breaks free of the Sun King 's spell (Oh My Love).
William suggests contacting Polythene Pam , the Sun King 's mistress, in order to assassinate the King (Polythene Pam ). He heads to the King's palace, but the King notices him talking to Pam, and threatens her. William then attempts the assassination, but the Sun King hypnotises him (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ), and he goes insane (I Am The Walrus ). The Fool plays a sad song on his guitar, mourning the loss of William (While My Guitar Gently Weeps ).
Side/disk two:
The Beatles – Come Together
The Beatles – Revolution
The Beatles – She Said She Said
The Beatles – All You Need Is Love
The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The Beatles – Think For Yourself
The Beatles – Norwegian Wood
The Beatles – She Came in Throught the Bathroom Window
The Beatles – Revolution 9 /Traveling Wilburys- Heading For The Light
The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun
Word spreads of the attempt on the King's life, and people gather at the Fool's Hill (Come Together ). The public don't see why they should revolt, and look to be turning on The Fool (Revolution ), until the newly enlightened Pam speaks up (She Said She Said ). A good vibe resonates around the crowd, who no longer feel dependent on the Sun King (All You Need Is Love ). The Fool plays a call to arms on his guitar (While My Guitar Gently Weeps ), but reveals he is incapable of killing the King himself due to an injury, and puts his faith in Pam to do the deed (Think For Yourself ).
Whilst the King ponders about his time with Pam whilst lying in the bath late at night (Norwegian Wood ), Pam sneaks in through a conviently located unguarded entrance and kills the Sun King with a wooden spoon (She Came In Through The Bathroom Window ). The world descends into chaos as the public experience withdrawal from the Sun King 's hypnosis (Revolution 9 ), with the Fool the only unaffected person, who feels the change taking place and is optimistic that it will settle down (Heading For The Light). The Fool is proven correct when the sun rises in the morning (Here Comes The Sun ). The people settle on their new life.

Ok I’ll give it another try with songs I love. My method was simple : 14 songs / 3 songwriters = 4.6 songs. Since I can’t choose 0.6 songs, so 4 songs per songwriter * 3 songwriters = 12 songs. 1 for Ringo and 1 Lennon/McCartney.
This is is the result. It was soo hard to choose an order, I felt like messing with the game of 2 chess masters.
1. Something .
2. In my Life.
3. Blackbird .
4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps .
5. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds .
7. Things We Said Today .
8. I Me Mine
11. Across The Universe (Let It Be Naked version)
13. Let it Be
14. A Day In The Life .
I think I did a good job. An apple to myself!!

1. Only A Northern Song (I like it. I don’t know why.)
3. Rocky Raccoon (Anthology) (Because Paul says ‘sminking)
4. Hey Bulldog
5. Octopus’s Garden (Had to have some Ringo)
6. Birthday
7. Mr. Moonlight (Not a great song, but a great Lennon vocal)
9. I’m So Tired
10. Within You, Without You/ Tomorrow Never Knows (I like the Love version better for some reason)
12. Lovely Rita
14. And Your Bird Can Sing (Anthology) (Because hysterical laughter is a great way to end an album)
So, I think this one would be called “The Beatles: The Oddball Album”. Yep, that was pretty random.

Ooh, I like this topic! Here's my attempt at it – weirdly enough, it took longer to put the songs in an order I was happy with than it did to actually pick the songs. I tried to do what M3 said, that is get a nice balance from all the albums, but I didn't do a very good job of that… What can I say? I'm bias.
1. Help ! – Seems like a pretty fun way to start an album
2. I've Got A Feeling
3. You Never Give Me Your Money
4. For No One
6. Lady Madonna
7. You Won't See Me
8. Penny Lane
9. Something – guiltily, the only George on the album
10. I Feel Fine
11. Julia
12. Hey Jude
13. Real Love – I really love this song, and I reckon it makes a nice closing to it all
Will Paul be back as Superman?
