My mom doesn’t say that because my dad is into them too, but whenever we start talking about the Beatles she gets this look on her face…
My dad and I have this game where one of us will say a word in a Beatles song (like “limousine”) and the other one will try to name the Beatles song and line that contains that word (You Never Give Me Your Money , “Pick up the bags and get in the limousine”) and it drives her crazy.

Mom: What’s this?
Me: Just a comedy.
*plot twist, it’s the Magic Christian*
Mom: I knew you were up to something.

Haha I have never seen it but I want to… My mom would probably just be happy I wasn’t watching something Beatle-related and then she’d see Ringo and be like I KNEW IT!

The struggle is real.
I used to have very similar problems until I got obsessed with three or four other bands, and she doesn’t mind the Beatles anymore now that I’m no longer playing them incessantly

I keep waiting for that moment to come when I realize that the Beatles are not the only decent band in the world, but I think it’ll be a while.
Also, my mom has confessed to not liking George’s solo music, particularly My Sweet Lord . I could not speak for about a minute.

The Magic Christian is awesome. Go watch it.
But yeh, I like Bowie, Floyd, Johnny Cash, Stones almost as much, but alas, I must watch videos of my lovely Liverpool boys everyday to sustain life.

It took me years. Hang in there, you’ll find them eventually. The trick is, don’t explore other bands because someone says, ‘Oh, if you like the Beatles, you’ll probably like them cause they’re similar’. That doesn’t work in my experience. If I want to listen Beatles I listen to Beatles. One must fall in love with a band on their own merits, not because they remind of another.

Hey, mine used to feel the same way, but I got her to come round by subtly Brainwashing her with some of his more lighthearted/ballad-type numbers. There may be hope yet.

I’m still at the point where it disturbs me to have any song other than a Beatles song (or a solo Beatles song) in my head.
As for my mom, I might be able to change her mind if I play her the right stuff, but it might take a while to find it… she doesn’t like repetitive stuff or Spectored stuff, so all the really good stuff like My Sweet Lord , What Is Life , and Give Me Love is out.

They certainly have soul but they are not the only ones with soul. Hasn’t she heard Dear Friend and Mother ?
I tried Crackerbox Palace and This Song but they aren’t really her style. She’s into Jason Mraz and Lake Street Dive and stuff like that. I don’t think she cares much for slide guitar which is a problem ?
Oh well, I’ll live. At least my dad understands

You know you’re a hardcore Beatles fan when you plan to name your firstborn child after your favorite Beatle. No joke. And if it’s a girl? You plan to name her after your favorite Beatle’s wife/daughter/sister/mother. Or maybe you’ll name her George anyway.

Well, if you want to be gender-proper (not that I see any reason to but it might make her school life easier), there are feminine forms of George. Georgia, Georgiana, Georgette. Not that I think any of them sound particularly good (I’m not overly fond of the name George, Harrison is much nicer-sounding in my opinion).

I plan to name my kids Heavy Refreshments (boy) or Milo Minderbinder (girl)
But that’s another story. Besides those, I would name a girl or a boy Ringo. Or John, Paul, George. Or Zowie. Heh.
If you don’t like my daughter, who’s name is John, get a life! (And that’s when you know you’re a hard core beatles fan)

I considered that, but I don’t like the female versions nearly as much.
