Offline Anyways, YKYAHBFW… Somebody begs you for a month for you to go see a Beatles tribute band with them (Liverpool Legends if you were wondering), but you just stop responding to their texts because you don’t want to go and this makes you question your whole existence (shouldn’t I want to go see them? it is Beatles related, so aren’t I obligated to go? am I no longer a Beatles fan? was I ever really a Beatles fan, or did I just want to think I was? how do I know I don’t actually hate them and that I only think I love them because of reaction formation?). To be honest, though, I’m really just still upset that when I saw them in 2011 they played Imagine .

And even if every damn little detail was perfection my brain would still be shouting “THAT’S NOT THE BLOODY BEATLES!!!” the whole way thru. A long time ago I saw the Bootleg Beatles do ‘Penny Lane ‘ on the BBC and ever since I have turned down all offers and possibilities.
Cover bands are fine but anyone trying to recreate the songs and times I’m immediately gone.

Finally, someone who agrees with me on this. Nothing pisses me off worse than when there is an inaccuracy, here’s 10 things that I’ve seen tribute bands do that I hate:
1. Having George play a guitar that’s not a Fender Stratocaster to play Nowhere Man
2. Not play Come Together (has nothing to do with what you’re saying but I hate when tribute bands do this)
3. Use guitars that The Beatles didn’t use, such as the tribute band Rain , where George is often seen playing a sunburst Strat
4. Using guitars that The Beatles didn’t use during that era
5. Not having a 5th person for certain parts, having a George Martin or a Billy Preston would be great for songs where there are more than 4 instrument parts that are important to the song
6. Not having Paul play guitar except for Yesterday if they play it
7. Covering Hotel California, which The Fab Four actually did, although the video is blocked for copyright reasons
8. Having John play lead guitar on Something
9. Making a Christmas album, this is supposed to be a tribute band not a parody like The Rutles or The Wiggles
10. Having John and George duel off for the end without Paul. This one pisses me off the most, I’d rather hear no bass because Paul is playing guitar than this, it gets confusing because the order is John (played by Paul on Abbey Road ) George (George) John (John) George (Paul) John (George) George (John) John (Paul) George (George) John (John)

Offline I was talking to my friends over Facebook yesterday and one of their boyfriends started playing Martha My Dear on a guitar, within about 4 seconds I said “……are you playing MMD?” and he replied “wow I didn’t think you’d get it that fast”.
I recognised it in like the first 2 seconds I just didn’t want to jump to conclusions 
And then of course I had to tell him who Martha really was, that Paul still had (or has) Martha’s descendants (as seen on the ‘Paul is Live’ album cover), and how Martha features in the ‘Something ‘ video where she’s frolicking around with Paul and Linda.
He seemed very impressed- that is only the surface of my knowledge

Offline When you find a Beatles record for free and you grab it and take it without even thinking twice, even though you have the same album at home in like 100x better condition. Yes this was a Beatles solo album, but I would have done the same with a Beatles as a group album.
