Offline You know you’re a hardcore Beatles fan when you (and your dad) make a google sheets file with every song on it, and continually update with a score out of 100 (which then allows me to give you an exact 78th favourite song, or my 4th least favourite album, 3rd favourite George song, average tempo of my top 10, etc…. I have a lot of information in it). We plan to update 10 songs tonight.

Offline Someone mentions a facet of Ringo’s drumming and you run through the canon looking for examples to compare and contrast, because of course that’s what you do. Learning Beatles songs on a ukulele is teaching me key transposition, which was a side effect I only just noticed.

Music from the same era and genre does tend to sound similar. There are tons of people (literally) who would say that The Beatles, The Kinks, The Monkees, Los Bravos, etc. all sound and look the same. The same thing could have been said in the sixties…

Well one thing you can say about the Beatles is that they never stopped advancing, experimenting and evolving. They almost never stood in the same place for long and very rarely repeated themselves…

Well, I was going to post a comparison of what Bruno Mars was doing in 2010 and what he was doing in 2016 vs. a comparison of what the Beatles were doing in 1962 and what they were doing in 1967, but the comparison is unfair.
Apart from Steve Miller, no one stands completely still.
But I would bet most people on this board would subscribe to the view that the Beatles evolved faster and more significantly than most artists before or after them.
…and THAT is how we know we’re hardcore Beatles fans.
