Thank you ExTex for being the first person on this forum to feature the words of the great Lester Bangs! Guy is probably reponsible for 40% of my musical taste (and collection)
I first heard about Bangs from the book “Dead Elvis” by Greil Marcus. Seems like quite a character.

I really like “yoko ono/plastic ono band” . You can definitely hear the roots of a lot of modern post punk/ indie/avant garde music in there from PIL to sonic youth to CAN.
Johns guitar playing wild, showing a whole new side to him altogether.

Awesome, I’m glad another person gets it, @castironshore.

Yeah, those are some good comparisons. I’m not sure about PiL or Can but Sonic Youth were verifiably POB fans. (And John Lydon was a big Can fan, and Can and POB both had the combined German/Japanese ancestry in common, so there’s that as well…)

The only bonus track I don’t have in the first batch is the extended version of “Why,” so unless the remasters just blow everyone away, I’m not interested yet.
!!! OMG I have to hear this!
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

It’s available as an MP3 purchase, although I read that the extended part is just studio chatter or false starts.

May seem off topic, but I found out the Blues Clues guy’s Beatle number (kinda like a bacon number) and it has quite a bit to do with Yoko.
The Beatles
1. Yoko Ono (John Lennon , the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist of the group, is heavily associated with her)
2. The Flaming Lips (Yoko performs Cheshire Cat Cry with them)
3. Steve Burns (Steve Drozd, the drummer of the band, recorded some songs with him)

You folks still calling it music???
I see no reason for that apart from to annoy.
Why do people need to trot out the same crap lines again and again.
Offer criticism if you want, but don’t just come onto a thread to name call – which is essentially what you’re doing.
“Ooo, the Yoko’s Music thread is active again, let’s just post that it isn’t! Bet nobody’s said that before!”
Boringly puerile and predictable!

I haven’t gotten a chance to really listen to a lot of Yoko’s music yet, but this is the first one that I listened to without the screaming(?). I actually like it a lot, her singing voice isn’t that bad! I think I read that this was the song that John and Yoko were working on the night of his death… is that true?

That’s true, in fact he was holding a cassette tape of the final mix as he was shot by that *** **** * *** **** ****.
I also quite like Walking On Thin Ice, though it goes on for WAAAY to long. It has an awesome riff though!

John brought his Beatles 1958 Rickenbacker 325 out of retirement on 4 December and recorded all the guitar parts. His final recording.
On the 8th, they mixed the song, and John was carrying a copy of the mix when shot.
Some studio chat was added to the version released on 1992’s Onobox where John can be heard commenting about it, “I think you just cut your first number one, Yoko.”
Remixed by several DJs and dance orientated musicians in 2003, it reached number one on the Billboard dance chart.
In the years since, she has become among the most successful acts on that chart, having a dozen or so number ones.
