I think it’s nice to have a thread where Yoko hatred isn’t allowed …If people want to debate her virtues or express their dislike for her, there are other threads that are more appropriate for that, like the Wives and Girlfriends thread and the derail thread– or this thread.

I don’t think hatred towards anyone is acceptable in any thread. The Wives and Girlfriends thread – my exasperation is becoming increasingly difficult to contain because it illustrates the whole point I’m trying to make: that clearly people think Yoko is way way above this thread in which the others are discussed in demeaning terms of who is the prettiest, hottest, best wife, best mother, best god only knows what else except for what they possess in the brains department.

……But the main thing I keep in the front of my mind is the loveliness of ‘Ahhh Girl’….I don’t want to give her extra work or worry. She clearly loves the Beatles and shows enormous tenderness and consideration for all the members here. She’s a very rare bird..And a good egg.

I’ve noticed this – very much so – and I absolutely agree. Sometimes I feel a little guilty expressing my opinions.

Again…….hard to argue with this double standard.

I can’t quite grasp the reason for it…….But sadly it is as it is………Perhaps some of us gently pointing it out whenever it occurs might curb the lack of fairness.

I think Expert Textpert is the only forumpudlian who puts Yoko yoko-ono_01 on a pedestal. To each his own. The rest of us like and dislike aspects of her. If ET doesn’t want to see what we are saying about Yoko in this thread, he doesn’t have to click on it. The 50 Shades theead was created so people could avoid more “adult-themed” posts. As I said, the forum is big enough to allow that wiggle room.

Didn’t someone mention Yoko’s hot legs in that Wives and Girlfriends thread? I wish I had her legs.

Saltie, please keep expressing your opinions. The forum needs your voice.

Maybe this whole geting credit for is more a Sean thing that a Yoko herself thing. I don’t know… i saw Yoko a bit mentally ill… head in the clouds… when she gave that speech at central park a few months ago. So maybe Sean is giving her beloved mother the credit that he thinks she deserves…

I want to make clear that that comment was not intended to be disrespectful to Yoko or Sean, or to offend any Yoko fan. Just to note the fact that Yoko is aging and that Sean is going to take over sooner or later.

Why would you be interested if you think it’s BS? Haven’t you already made up your mind that she is an untalented hack who is just stealing the limelight?

I don’t put her on a pedestal. I just don’t throw her in the mud like everyone else. I think she is every bit as selfish and manipulative as John Lennon was, but not moreso. They were two birds of a feather.

I do tire of the sexism, racism and general vomit that is spewed in her direction. If you don’t like her art, fine, but don’t pretend she was trying to write a melody on pieces like “Fly.”

And yes, I do think people favor Cynthia because she was submissive and white.

I guess that’s what makes it seem you put her on a pedestal. You don’t want to see her down in the mud when so many others do. Yoko needs her champions.

It would have been a lot more honest if you had said this. You didn’t get it. It was your implication as Englishwomen as wallflowers that was so offensive. Take it you have never heard of Queen Elizabeth I, Jane Austen, Emmaline Pankhurst, Kate Bush, Vivienne Westwood …. a mere handful I can only think of right now. Plus the unknown hundreds of thousands of hard working women struggling to keep their families together regardless of what decade they live in. Or the colour of their skin.

Who said she was talentless?

We can clearly see her talents abounds…….

That art gallery clearly needed a non-hating, truthful little girl, (taking the sexist claim away)….Who hadn’t heard the news around town that you can only be considered intelligent if what you’re hearing here is as beautiful as…….. ‘bird-song’……Not ‘in on this’…..the little girl gapes…. points her finger….. starts laughing  and shouts, ‘That lady is nuts mum’

Cynthia is not all Englishwomen. And nice try, but this is not about me stereotyping anyone. I am pointing out the racism and sexism of those who hate Yoko but love nice, quiet Cynthia, (why couldn’t Yoko shut up and be like Cynthia, blah blah blah)….

I for one have never said a word about Cynthia……Apples and oranges …….No comparison.

I like all women but particularly Asian women and given the choice…. alway fancied Yoko………

I appreciate Yoko understood John’s fear of abandonment and made him happy, and sad, blissfull and desperate……Perhaps she was the right fit for John and we got some good songs out of their relationship ……….But ONLY from John.

If, as she’s now hinting she was responsible creatively for many of John’s songs why are her own songs such forgettable belches?

PS I respect your championing of Yoko……Don’t get upset if others just have a very conflicting view. Each to his or her own. And I request you don’t write the different opinion off as some ‘ism’

Yep sorry you couldn’t…….I must have had an ‘art-by-pass operation’. Obviously I’m lacking in some way…….

She’d be laughing at me you say……?   Well then Yoko and I would have gotten along well …….Laughing together would have been some linkage at least.

Come to think of it, I don’t ever recall seeing her laughing out loud….You know a good belly laugh.

I like people who laugh….And I don’t mind being laughed at.

I’d probably like a yoko who was more Joko and didn’t take herself so seriously….. expecting the same seriousness from others.

Just an opinion. I can feel my head being patted.

I’m all for laughter and pleasure…… So between us she’s  keeping us both happy. That’s a positive ‘ain’t it?

I don’t think I’ve wished you a happy New Year ET..So hope you have a good one.

I really didn’t want to get into this but I’m sorry, I have to interject.

I’m sorry, preferring someone over someone else is racist? That’s the weirdest argument I’ve ever heard. I prefer(ed) Steven Hawking over Neil deGrasse Tyson, but that’s got nothing to do with race, only that I prefer Hawking’s wit over Tyson’s.

Also, sexism? We’re talking about 2 cis-women here, that cannot be a factor.

Not to say I’m anti-Yoko, I definitely appreciate her work, but it’s not up my alley.

I also pay attention when someone is screaming…….There’s usually an actual reason for it.

“I heard Yoko screaming in the bathroom officer, so I put my head-phones on……I didn’t think she meant it.”

Diogenes used swear at passers by……to take a dump and masturbate in the street……Just to get a reaction…..He was responsible for the Cynics and has been remembered to this day.

He carried a lit lantern through the streets at midday……When asked why? He said he was ‘Looking for an honest person’

So maybe Yoko’s performance art will be remembered? And I have to say I marginally prefer her warbling away like the above to watching her take a dump for a reaction.

But of the Greeks: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus…..and Democritus…….Left more of substance. But that’s just in my opinion and I’m an admitted idiot……Although an idiot in its original meaning… ie someone who thinks for himself.
