It’d be funny for someone to make a book of unwritten Abbey Road rules. i’m pretty sure I had a mention of one in my fanfic before, the other rule being ‘no food is to be stolen without explicit permission’

That’s debatable, @Saltie. She was having an affair with Paul which led to/aided his break-up with Jane when she caught them in bed together, and lived with him for several months in 1968. She was the girlfriend between Jane and Linda, though it has been suggested Paul was using her to provoke his split with Jane. She also attended many sessions during the WA. One reason she maybe wasn’t there as much as Yoko was because Paul put her on the payroll by getting Derek Taylor to give her a job in the Apple press office.
I’m just making the point that these situations were not always as clear cut as they are sometimes written.
But we’re getting away from the topic of this being a Yoko Appreciation so we should probably shift this conversation elsewhere should we want to continue this conversation about the role of Francie.

You really should have stated this first @RonNasty. It is very unfair of you to get in your last word then redirect others to another thread. Your own comments are debatable and based on hearsay (which becomes more fantastical with each retelling). I knew all that stuff about Francie Schwarzt long before you did and I’m not interested in her. I was discussing Yoko Ono. It’s disturbing that 2nd, 3rd, 4th plus generation fans are gleaning more and more misinformation about The Beatles with each passing day.

I don’t like to hate on Yoko but in my eyes this is a really selfish thing to do. Its pointless. I will not acknowledge anything that comes from this list.
Agree. The only thing that matters to me is what has stood the test of time. What was actually released back in the day. This can’t help but feel revisionist and unnecessary. To quote Paul, let it be.

I agree that the vitriol should have another home than the thread where we are supposed to appreciate Yoko. Let her have her memories and be recognized for her input.
Try to put yourself in her shoes and imagine the amount of unnecessary hate that’s been directed her way.

While I agree that Yoko sees a whole lot of unnecessary hate, the backlash for this is warrented. She is already making plenty of money from John’s music while continuing to create art and music. Retroactively taking credit for her dead husband’s songs is an a*****e move.

I think everyone who has read a lot about John knows that he did his best work in collaboration with other people. I don’t know why she shouldn’t be allowed to tell her side of the story. It’s not like she’s going to be taking credit for things she didn’t do, like Paul does.

No offense to Yoko, but Paul has much more credibility when it comes to creative contributions.

Aside from Bob Dylan and Neil Young Paul had the best solo career of all time. Take away all of the Lennon songs from Yoko’s carreer and what do you get? Kiss kiss kiss? A Portugal the man single. When Paul says that he wrote the melody for a great Lennon/McCartney composition I’m much more inclined to believe him when Yoko says she wrote Imagine .

Right now I’m arguing against Yoko. Let me put it on record that there are many Yoko songs that I do enjoy. I will never deny her creativity or her talent.
When you start comparing it to Paul, its over.

Is Paul your favorite Beatle? Yoko is my favorite Beatle.
Anyway, I don’t think you can argue that the things Yoko says are less credible than the things Paul says because he writes a better melody.
And Yoko isn’t all about melodies anyway. If you think she’s always trying to write a melody, you’re missing the point of her avant-garde work.
That being said, she does have some very good melodic songs as well.

I’d like to add that I really think Yoko’s performance of “Don’t Worry Kyoko” is one of the highlights of the Plastic Ono Band set in Toronto ’69. I think she was really too cool for The Beatles. Don’t get me wrong, I love The Beatles. But I don’t think most people even understand what Yoko is doing, she’s so far out.

One more opinion I’d like to share. If you want to hear John Lennon ‘s best guitar work, listen to Yoko Ono.

Imagine is often ranked the greatest song ever. If you really want to take credit for that song, write one (yes I am talking to you Yoko), ONE (1) classic song.
