Actually there's a movie about John and Paul called Two of Us.

Now I love how Beatle bio films *must* have a Beatle song name. At least Lennon Naked was… well… kind of original. 
(BTW The movie Two of Us is ok. The guys look a bit like Paul and John but at least in this one, John has dark eyes)

Offline John would not have been knighted…he sent back his MBE remember because Cold turkey was sliding down the charts – that's what he told the queen?
John didn't realy do anything for anyone else (maybe a few awful free concerts), he was not as altruistic as Paul.
Paul used his wealth and power to revitalize Liverpool and spread vegetarianism with Linda.

Apparently the Jains will speak up on behalf of any root vegetable. No potatoes, carrots, onions, turnips, etc.

Offline It’s very unlikely. I don’t think John was very keen on royalty or any sort of honours like that, and probably wouldn’t have got it after he allegedly smoked cannabis in the Buckingham Palace toilets with the other Beatles before they received their MBEs, and how he informally addressed the Queen in his letter when returning it several years later.

It wouldn’t have mattered if he had smoked a little in the Queen’s bathroom. Paul did and look where he is now.

Offline Why would John want to be knighted because he believed in antiwar but the UK had a military, although the funny part is that he actually was, either that or there’s a difference between MBE and knighthood.

Offline No, George wasn’t knighted. Ringo won’t be, either. And, I agree, John also would not have been knighted.
Don’t forget that Paul wasn’t knighted for being a Beatle. What really cemented the decision was him saving the Inny and turning it into LIPA. That, combined with his complete body of work, charity work, and of course being a monarchist, formed the basis for his knighthood.
Even if John had returned to the UK and done similar things or even joined some of Paul’s efforts, he still wouldn’t have been a monarchist and even if a knighthood had been offered, he likely would have refused. Of course, we’ll never know if and how much he would have changed over the years. Most people tend to think he always would have been a rebel when it’s far more likely he would have, at least to some degree, become a bit of a conformist like most of his peers. Let’s not forget John and Yoko were headed for divorce, and much of John’s activism was really him jumping on Yoko’s bandwagon. Without her, he probably would’ve changed a lot, especially if the plans to work closely with Paul again had come to fruition. But alas, we’ll never know the answer to this question.
I’m quite sure Paul would have been knighted either way, though. Mainly because he wanted it, and when he found out he was bing mentioned for it, he actively worked at ticking the right boxes to make sure he’d get that title which, apparently, he wanted for Linda more than anything.
