If I used a time machine and went back to 1964, would I become a first gen Beatles fan?

Here’s a new development…What if second gen fans are Faul fans, and first gen fans are Paul fans?
That’s a good idea except for 1 problem, a Faul fan sounds like someone who got into The Beatles around the time of the Sgt. Pepper era instead of someone who didn’t get into The Beatles until after 1970.

Like William Shears Campbell mentioned* in the other thread, if you remember listening/dancing/watching the Beatles while they were still a band, you’re a 1st generation fan.
*thanks WSC for voicing that opinion!)

What if a Paul fan time traveled to the Sgt. Pepper era, or a Faul fan time traveled to the Please Please Me era?

If a Paul fan (I’m going to say born 1955) time traveled to the Sgt. Pepper era, he’d meet his 12 year old self who would either be scared as s**t and run like hell or would be doing LSD and think he’s hallucinating.
If a Faul fan (I’m going to say born 1962) time traveled to the Please Please Me era, he’d see himself as a 1 year old, and would be unable to remember this occurrence, as you don’t develop permanent memories until you’re 2-4 (depends on the person).

The Faul fan would be captured by the government and forced to spill secrets about the future.

What if the Paul fan argued with his 12-year-old self over which self was the true first gen fan?
They would both be a 1st gen fan, so I don’t know why they’d argue about that. Also, why would they do that out of all things, if I got the chance to go back in time, I’d be breaking in to the MGM vault to retrieve a copy of London After Midnight before the fire destroyed it and then go back into 2016 and wait a year for it’s 90th anniversary in 2017 and then sell it for millions of dollars and retire. I might also look around and buy as many Butcher covers as I can find.

A more interesting yet dark question about time travel is what would happen if you went back in time and killed yourself.
Well if it is a stable loop, you wouldn’t be able too but if you did, you would if been sent to a parallel universe and would love out your new life.

I use two factors when drawing this line:1. You must’ve liked The Beatles when they first came out
2. You must’ve been born no later than 1967
The reason I drop the ball so low yearwise is because my cousin who was born in 1967 liked the TV show, the Yellow Submarine movie, and even a handful of songs while the band was still around.
Your cousin wouldn’t remember 1967-69, so that makes him/her a 2nd gen fan!
I was born in ’63, heard my 3 tween sisters playing it in my mums belly, but still consider myself a 2nd ten fan, when I got my first Beatles album in ’73 (Beatles 1962-1966)

I believe that 1st generation fans end at 1964 for 2 reasons:
1. You would’ve been alive in the same year The Beatles hit it big
2. You would’ve been old enough to remember the Yellow Submarine movie
Therefore, that means that 2nd generation starts at 1965. I was born in 1967, so although in a sense I am a 1st generation fan, I consider myself a 2nd generation fan.

I am confused, are you trying to say that someone who doesn’t have memories of The Beatles on TV aren’t 1st gen fans or did you mean for someone born too late, having memories of The Beatles being on TV or on the radio before they broke up is not a 1st gen fan.
Also, I never liked Elvis. My parents like Elvis, even though they still prefer The Beatles, even my father who was born in 1941.
My parents, who was born in 1939 (father) and 1945 (mother), prefer The Beatles over Elvis as well. It’s funny because my grandparents actually turned the TV off on my father and his 4 brothers halfway through the first song on the first Ed Sullivan Show appearance.

Why is this such a big discussion point? Considering that being a first or second gen fan is something that on can’t control, why does it matter?
