I like the idea of like with those shops where you can make your own teddy bear and take it home with you visitors could make their own unique Beatle mix from any recording, with the means of flying any part of a song into another, from the studio masters and take it home. Their own unique mix (i know folks are doing so already with Rock Band but if with the studio masters then any line the Beatles put down is open). Also means they would come back. Yes it costs but thats how to keep the place running.

Re Postcards, that was the name of Mary Hopkin’s debut album on Apple, produced by Paul, and one of Ringo’s photo books so very suitable in the museum. And yes huge white sheets. We could also have a wall where folks can graffiti and leave their own messages like outside Abbey Road .

Over here there is one called Build-A-Bear Workshops, so we could call it Build-A-Beatle Workshop. apple01

DENTURES! That’s the word I’ve been looking for forever.

Why? lol a-hard-days-night-george-9

I always used ”fake teeth” but figured there must be just one word for it, just like there is in Dutch. However, I could never find the right word and here it is.

I looked up the Dutch word:  Kunstgebit.  If that is the correct word, it sounds like dentures stuck together with peanut butter, melted marshmallow, and cement.

Yeah, kunstgebit is the correct word. Kunst has a double meaning. Not in this context, but in general. It means both art and fake. In this context it obviously means fake. Gebit is all your teeth.

It seems you call all those things teeth, which are called tanden in Dutch btw. We don’t only have tanden, but we also have kiezen. Looks like you call everything teeth, don’t you have a word for kiezen in English? A wisdom-tooth is one of your kiezen, for example. In Dutch it’d be ”verstands-kies”. Verstand meaning wisdom.

So, don’t you have a word for those kind of teeth?

This was Linde’s Dutch class for today.

We sometimes do differentiate types of teeth — like “molars” and “bicuspids” — but usually we just refer to them generally as teeth without specifying, unless it’s in a dentistry context.  We have to say “wisdom teeth” to denote those, so we’re still using the word “teeth” there.

Also “buck teeth” are the teeth in front if they look like rabbit teeth.

Kunst I guess would be like Art/Artificial.

Are we going to keep the real-world Beatles stuff separate from the song-world Beatles stuff?

We need the hole in the road where Mean Mr. Mustard slept. If we are mixing real-world and song-world, we could put the hole next to the Abbey Road zebra crossing.

The hobnail boots with the multicolored mirrors probably belongs in the XXX room.

Ahem,

I would like to see the painting that they all did collectively for charity in ’66 :)

Good Dog Nigel. Arf, Arf, he goes, a merry sight. Our little hairy friend. Arf, Arf, upon the lampost bright, arfing around the bend. Nice dog! Goo boy, waggie tail and beg. Clever Nigel, jump for joy

Some other things from Help ! (apologies if any have been mentioned before)

The ring, of course

The copy of In His Own Write John kisses

The alarm clock

Paul’s comic books

The gum wrapper around Tiny Paul

The devotional statue that somehow found its way into the ocean

The curling brooms

The bikes

The blanket wrapped around Ringo in the trunk of the car

The car

The scarf. The scarf:

It would be cool if they preserved that snow animal from Help and kept it in a freezer display thingy. Of course it took a bit of damage so they’d have to fix it up.

And “If found, I belong to [fill in the blank Beatle].” Paul was into buttons for while, and we could have recreations of those, like the “Love of My Life” one from the “Our World” photocall:

If we fans were in charge, I suspect the gift shop would be a day trip in itself.

I’ll go with the handcuffs Paul was in when he was arrested in Japan (can you imagine what those would be worth?),

Were Paul and George taken away in handcuffs in Hamburg? Those too.
