I don’t think Mr. Moonlight even voiced an opionion on this thread! He just invited speculation. What’s he right about?(lol I’m the mood for an argument here, is it obvious? A friendly argument. )
[EDIT: OK, now I see – it was Necko quoting Zig answering Mr. Moonlight who you were agreeing with there. Misattribution!]
Hey. I’ve got plenty of time for a debate so go ahead!
I think I made my point pretty clear on my posts above, or thought I did…and couldn’t get anyone to agree with me! LOL. So I don’t know where I can go from there…I just couldn’t figure out what you were agreeing with.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Not what I appear to be said
Anybody even consider how 60s music may have evolved differently without Paul setting the standard for creativity in bass playing? He almost single-handedly turned the bass into another voice in the mix. Would John Entwistle or Jack Bruce have pushed themselves as hard to expand their own talents?
Welcome to the forum, NWIATB! We invite you to introduce yourself on the “Introduce yourself!” thread on the main page.
I don’t know about Entwistle, but I doubt that Paul McCartney (or his bass playing) was really on Jack Bruce’s radar. He started out as a standup bass player and jazz purist, so his playing abilities would’ve been much more advanced than Paul’s before the Beatles even recorded, undoubtedly. And I don’t think Paul is really his equal, as far as technique goes. (Let me add here that I’ve never much liked Bruce’s playing. John Entwistle I like a lot more.)

I reckon they might have eventually got signed to a record label (Polydor?) and would’ve had a few minor hits in Britain and West Germany for a year or two, but wouldn’t have reached the point where they became worldwide famous and an influence on the future of pop and rock music like they did IRL. After those few minor hits and possibly an album, they probably would have split a lot earlier, and would be leading fairly normal lives right now. However, I think there could be the possibility that Stu went on to be a famous artist after the split, and I’ve always had the belief that an already popular British group of the time (e.g. The Shadows or The Tornados, even the Stones if they still formed in 1962 in this universe, as their kind of blues rock/rhythm and blues was emerging at this point) may have been able to break through to America and start a ‘British Invasion’, although if that happened, I don’t think it would’ve progressed the way we know it did with The Beatles at helm.

It’s fine to entertain these ideas for a moment but I don’t want to give it too much thought as I can’t stand to think of a world where The Beatles wasn’t John, Paul, George and Ringo.
However I don’t think they would have progressed much further then Hamburg if Peter and Stu remained in the band. They may have released an album or two and maybe a couple of singles but I don’t think they would have gone much further than that but you never know, maybe the five piece Beatles might have gone on to be a big band in their own write (See what I did there?)
