Hey guys. Thought I'd mention that Ellie and I are planning a trip to Liverpool towards the end of the month. I've just booked to go to the http://www.casbahcoffeeclub.com/
As if that wasn't enough to make you all jealous, my dear old dad is taking me to Hamburg in December (because we haven't had a holiday together for years, and he's always wanted to visit Hamburg). I've got a Beatles in Hamburg book, and hopefully I'll be able to see the various clubs and sights. So far the must-do is to stand in the doorway where the Rock 'N' Roll cover was taken, and to visit the Beatlemania museum.
Obviously I'll return here with full reports after the trips. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions of places to see in either cities, please let me know.

Joe – jealous does not begin to describe my feelings right now. They both sound like wonderful trips. While in Hamburg, try to avoid this place…
I can't imagine you and your father burning a condom at the Bambi Kino (if it still exists), but then when in Rome…
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
The funny thing is, neither of these trips were my idea. I have good family…
Dad's looking for a hotel at the moment. I don't think we'll be staying in the Bambi Kino though.

Well you know how much I know you'll enjoy Liverpool. Mendips, Forthlin Road AND The Casbah – you'll need a damp cloth afterwards!!
If you get Rory at The Casbah be sure to ask of the family from Oxford
he took around: just remind him of the three young children with us and the fact
I had to call to remind him as he'd fogotten about meeting us 🙂
And if you are going all that way you must do Madryn Strret, Arnold Grove and St. Peter's Church.
As for Hamburg – well I've not been there but I'm sure you'll have a greast time. Please take plenty of photos EVERYWHERE!

I’ve always wanted to go to Liverpool to see Beatles landmarks such as their birthplaces, the cavern club, St. Peters Church, Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane . That would be amazing. I’m jealous of you Joe!
And in her eyes you see nothing, No sign of love behind the tears, Cried for no one, A love that should have lasted years.

So. Jealous. Any chance I could come? I could come in a suitcase, and I don't eat much. Please?
And I don't have a Magical Mystery Tour vest either.

I've been to Penny Lane , Strawberry Fields and Mathew Street before, so I probably won't do it all again this time (we're only going for a couple of nights, otherwise our poor hungry cats will starve back home). But there's still way too much to squeeze in!
Sorry I can't take you all with me. If I win the lottery…

Mhh aren't those cat food dispensers to feed your pet while you're away? I know it's a useless purchase when you're away only for 2 days, but still it might be a good idea if you're planning a larger vacation…. just a thought
Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……

I think she'll settle for some good restaurants, some art galleries and maybe a (non-Beatles) museum. I'll let you know. We tend not to plan our holidays too much.
We won't be doing *anything* to do with football, though, as both of us hate it. (They have two clubs btw, Liverpool and Everton)

oh I went to Liverpool for my 14th Birthday . Beatles story, Penny Lane , Mathew Street, Cavern etc. IT WAS BLOOMING GREAT!!!
Anytime at all, all you gotta do is call, and I'll be there.
I did a lot of that when I was a teenager too – I went up a few times and visited all the main sites. I'm having to be a bit more selective this time around though – I think if it was up to me I could overdose on Beatles sites, but I'd probably end up divorced too…
Beyond the Casbah and the National Trust properties, we'll probably go to Albert Dock and the Cavern Quarter, then just wander around and do other things. I'll let you all know though – we're going for two nights at the end of next week (Hamburg trip is in December).

I will. Give me a chance – I got back late last night and haven't had a chance to sort through any photos or thoughts.
In brief, Wednesday: arrival, curry, A Hard Day's Night hotel bar.
Thursday: 251 Menlove Ave , 20 Forthlin Road, 9 Madryn Street, the pub on the cover of Sentimental Journey, Beatles Story exhibition, The Beatles Hidden Gallery and White Feather exhibitions. Cavern Club, where we watched The Mersey Beatles tribute band.
Friday: the new John Lennon Peace Statue thing (as horrible as it looks in the photos). Casbah Club, shown around by Roag (pronounced 'rogue' ) Best, brother of Pete and son of Neil Aspinall and Mona Best. Bought this book signed by Pete, Roag and Rory.
Then home, and some much-needed sleep. I think that's everything, in a very brief way. I have plenty of pics though – if you don't mind waiting a bit longer I'll sort them out. I've just been sent the new Band On The Run 2CD/DVD so I'm trying to put together a few words on that this weekend too.

Busy, busy, busy. I guess we can wait a little longer. I'll just cross the goofy John Lennon statue of my list of 25 things you must see in Liverpool. (I'm pretty sure it wasn't there to begin with…)
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!
