Well I did a sonnet earlier this week about Paul Is Dead for English class. Here it is
Our Beloved Paul
So youthful with a golden singing voice
The girls all flock to him just seventeen
The crowds among the millions all rejoice
When he and his three friends are on the scene
But then at five o’clock there is a crash
A car, a crazed fan, and a missing head
The three see a walrus, then in a flash
Comes MI5 with Billy Shears instead
To their passed friend, a tribute they do make
The Lonely Hearts Club Band reversely cries,
“Turn me on dead man, please, for goodness sake”
But then they let it be and leave the lies
Now some hear “cranberry sauce,” but not me
For our beloved Paul is dead, you see

My teacher decided to treat her class like a bunch of 3rd graders and have us keep a diary to be graded. I didn’t want to reveal a bunch of personal information, so I wrote everything using extremely vague descriptions or Beatles references. I got 100% on it, somehow.

The next week I am going to give a presentation on ‘Brave New World’ and Aldous Huxley in English class and since he was included on the cover of Sgt Peppers I can’t waste this perfect opportunity for a Beatles reference. At the end of the presentation, I am planning to project an image of the Sgt Peppers’ cover on the wall and let my classmates find Huxley among all the other people. However, I still don’t know why exactly he was included on the cover. I suppose it was either John’s suggestion since Huxley has experimented with mind-expanding drugs and has written ‘The Doors of Perception’ or George’s for Huxley’s interest in meditating and eastern religions. Does anyone know more about it, I could not find any more specific information.

How did I forget to post this???
On Friday in music class, our teacher got us to study Here Comes The Sun . He knows I’m a Beatles fan, so that might have influenced his decision slightly, but still! That was really fun!
On a side note, in a Humanities essay, when I was writing about water pollution, I wrote this:
You don’t want see the poor Octopus’s Garden ‘s fill up with rubbish, do you?
Really lame, I know!*
Lame in terms of just one reference!

In Foods class, we are doing a project where we create a menu and cook some of the things on it. Somehow, I convinced my group to allow me to use terrible Beatles food puns for the names of the dishes. For example, we’ve got a thingy with shrimp in it that I named “We Shall Shrimp and Save”, and then we’ve got both “Cake Days A Week” and “A Hard Cake’s Night” in the desserts section.

If I Needed Some Cake!
I do like We Shall Shrimp and Save.
I have to pick an issue that’s been in the media in the last 18 months to do with conflict for English, and I picked Scottish Independence. I’m hoping to put in a reference to Only A Northern Song at some stage! I don’t know if I’ll be able to, though.

I love making random Beatles references. Just the other day I was talking to somebody trying to explain that the I was starving until I tasted you song had an inappropriate meaning and how I was shocked that it got past the censors and when he denied this, I mentioned the bridge of Girl and then said that some people don’t get the true meaning of songs, just like Got To Get You Into My Life , which I explained was about weed after he asked what it was really about.

@WeepingAtlasCedars Love those food puns. You should add them to the thread on the Forum titled Terrible Beatles Food Puns – or something along those lines (“The Salad of John and Yoko” – with no dressing, etc…)

Currently, we have to prepare little sketches in theatre class and there are different tasks we have to fulfil. One of them is including a character that repeats one sentence over and over no matter if it fits the situation or not. It’s kinda obvious the sentence should be ‘No, actually, we’re just good friends’ but until now I have not managed to persuade my classmates.
But I certainly won’t give up that easily!

I have to do a project on any copyright breach in the music industry, so I chose Come Together vs. You Can’t Catch Me ! And I can reference the Beatles Bible in it!

Interesting that She’s A Woman is in there — a bit of a deep cut among all the more well-known tracks.

I can’t remember, even as a Beatles fan, where the minor 6th in She’s A Woman is!

It looks like it’s time for a surprise mini lesson on chord progressions.
To understand what you want to know, you first must know the scale and the major chord scale, we will be using the key of A as an example as that’s the key She’s A Woman is in.
The A major scale:
A B C# D E F# G# A
I II III IV V VI VII VIII/I
A major scale chords:
A B C#m D E F#m G# A
I II iii IV V vi VII VIII/I
As you can see, the major is uppercase and the minor is lowercase when referring to chords.
Back to She’s A Woman , here’s the chords with their relativity to the root note.
Verse:
A D A
I IV I
A D A
I IV I
D D
IV IV
A D A
I IV I
E D A D A E
V IV I IV I V
Chorus:
C#m F#m C#m D E
iii vi iii IV V
As you can see, the F#m during the chorus is the minor 6th.

Always fascinates me that one, the whole release of Roots screwing the case royally for Levy. Quite a complicated little tale you’re taking on there.

People can legally record cover versions. A huge chunk of YT posts would be taken down if not. The only thing they have to do is pay the songwriter(s) their share of any money made.
