My dog was named Martha.  After Paul's dog, Martha.  Which of course provided the name for a song.

I think she was thinking of that scene in AHDN , where the guy finally stands up for himself by telling the other one “It's not I'm taller than you, you're shorter than me.”

Now, make like a tree and BEAT IT! (I always loved Biff's mixed phrases.) — Make like an egg and scram…ble?

I've personally known at least two girls named Michelle for the song. Plus several Michelles who MIGHT have been named for the song, all born around the right time, say 1966-75. Check out this graph that shows the name's popularity by year:

Wow, my mom was born around the same time and her name is Michelle , but it is spelled Michel… I need to ask my grandfather if that was the inspiration now, I never thought of that!

My cat is named Nigel after the dog in the Shakespear skit they did. And yes the dog George has is actually named Nigel.

I had heard that. Now it makes me wonder if Nigel was quite the prima-donna doggie-woggie and was the inspiration for John's poem.

You know, I love that bit though in the play: Ringo chases John. The dog chases Ringo, and George, attached by the dog's leash has to chase after the dog. For some reason I always think of that story about the Golden Goose.

My violin is named Paul for many different reasons. The first one though was after the St. Paul's orchestral suite by Holtz, which our student orchestra teacher from 1st semester absolutely loved.

Note by Ahhh Girl 22 January 2015: This post originally began a new thread titled “4147 Lennon, 4148 McCartney, 4149 Harrison & 4150 Starr?????” Posts 50-66 were a part of that thread also.

I found this while surfin’ the web.

Wait , did you find that while clicking 'Random Article' on Wikipedia? If so, that would be pretty neat.

"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.

"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I’ve heard that they walk among the stars."

Lucy and her diamonds now have companions in the sky. Too cool.

I will preface my next thought by acknowleding that the accuracy of Wikipedia has been questioned in the past. But did anyone else notice that John and Paul had asteroids named after them, while George and Ringo had minor planets named after them?

I started to look up both terms to see if there were actually the same thing. I started to read an article on it, but got a headache.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Good point. John and Paul are asteroids, George and Ringo minor planets. Usually we think of planets as being bigger (or I do at least), but people generally see John and Paul as more important. Is the astronomer trying to say something?

Wow, that must be an old web page, it lists George's dates as “1943–present”

I thought the article's description of Ringo was quite dismissive.blue-meanie
