I would have raised my hand and, in a matter-of-fact way, explained that actually, Paul McCartney was the Beatles’ bassist, though he also played guitar and piano and on Back In The USSR , Dear Prudence , and The Ballad Of John And Yoko he did actually play drums, but playing the drums was actually Ringo Starr ‘s job, though he, too, was known to deviate from his normal instrument to play the matchbox and the chord at the end of A Day In The Life , on which Mal Evans, the Beatles’ much-loved roadie and friend, played the alarm clock… and so on and so forth.

The other day, I saw someone who I sort of knew wearing an Abbey Road t-shirt. I walked up to them and started ranting about this one track on Anthology 3 that I just figured out had this amazing part at end that they just had to hear– Then I realized that they had no clue what I was talking about. If you don’t want to talk about the Beatles, don’t wear an Abbey Road shirt!

Well, to be fair, it was an Abbey Road shirt. That’s, like, the most obvious shirt you could wear. Very iconic cover, not exactly a hardcore kinda thing.

Every once in a while I see someone in a Beatles shirt but most of the time I don’t bother to say anything because there’s only so many times one can tolerate getting their dreams crushed.

Also Anthology isn’t the most well-known of the Beatles’ works… I mean, I haven’t heard Anthology…
me either
I’ve got them all in my Spotify library, I keep saying I’ll listen to them one of these days…
I’m usually too socially reticent* to approach people, so I typically assume that they’re just wearing the shirt and aren’t really a proper fan. Call it sour grapes if you like, but it’s probably accurate most of the time, especially as the artists I like aren’t exactly niche — if they were, it’d be a different matter.
*politically correct term for shy jk I’m very talkative and brash with people I know so I’m not exactly what the term ‘shy’ suggests to one’s mind, but I am actually when it’s new people.

I’m the least shy person you’ll ever meet, if you look at all interesting i’ll walk up and say something weird.

I second that. It’s also great for virtually anything else you may want to listen to, and even the free version only gives you ads every several songs/skips. (It does this ‘Spotify Wrapped’ thing at the end of the year where it tallies up what you listened to, whom, and how much, your most-played tracks, etc. and my most-played artist was — guess who? )

And ‘Blackout’ was #1. I got a good laugh over that — I’m dotty for ‘Blackout’. I also went through a playing-‘Fantastic Voyage’-on-repeat phase.
(This year I have the album on CD so it won’t show up on my end-of-year thing. )
