One of my co-workers said her favorite Beatles song is ‘Band On The Run ‘.
Her eyes glazed over when I said, “it’s not a Beatles’ song…it’s a Beatle’s song.”
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

^ Didn’t get the difference at first
There are lot’s of people that I know that pretend to like a certain band just because they think it makes them look ”cool”. Or worse, to go out with someone. It’s very sad, if you don’t like The Beatles, then you don’t like them. Or at least give a few of their songs a listen if you’re going to claim you’re a massive fan.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

That is sad. That might not be a good relationship either.

Oh god, I can’t stand those type of people. This reminds me of a time when I saw a girl I knew wearing a top with Abbey Road on it. I said to her that I didn’t know that she liked The Beatles and she was like ”yeah, I’m a HUGE fan”. A few weeks later, when I saw her again, I happened to be wearing a top that says ‘John, Paul, George, Ringo’ on it and she said to me ”Ringo? Is that what the other one is called?”Do you realise how stupid you’ve just made yourself look?
xD Referring to Ringo as “the other one”, it reminds me of the whole “the heir and the spare” in royalty, we have the main person and some other little thing that is along for the ride (Which Ringo obviously was not)

But seriously, I agree. For example, I am a huge, obsessed fan and I can’t go a day without listening to their music. I know a lot about them and there are only a few songs I haven’t heard. My sister is a huge fan, too, but she’s not as obsessed as me. My friend is a fan, too, but she only knows some of their later songs, and she likes Help ! (the album). She can name all four Beatles (even George! ).
Autumn, I like you and I enjoy your posts, and I don’t doubt that you’re a fan in the slightest but I don’t know how there are songs that you still haven’t listened to. I couldn’t bear knowing that there’s a Beatles song (that’s been released) that I haven’t listened to yet. Unfortunately, I am one of those selfish fans who is dying for more.
Here are the songs I haven’t heard:
- 12-Bar Original
- A Beginning
- Ain’t She Sweet
- Bad Boy
- Carnival Of Light
- Carol
- Cayenne
- Christmas Time (Is Here Again)
- Child Of Nature
- Circles
- Clarabella
- Cry For A Shadow
- Crying, Waiting, Hoping
- Don’t Ever Change
- Etcetera
- From Us To You
- Glad All Over
- Goodbye
- Hallelujah, I Love Her So
- Hello Little Girl
- The Hippy Hippy Shake
- The Honeymoon Song
- How Do You Do It
- I Call Your Name
- I Forgot To Remember To Forget
- I Got A Woman
- I Got To Find My Baby
- I Just Don’t Understand
- I’ll Be On My Way
- I’ll Get You
- I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)
- In Spite Of All The Danger
- Johnny B. Goode
- Junk
- Keep Your Hands Off My Baby
- Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand
- Lend Me Your Comb
- Like Dreamers Do
- A Little Rhythm
- Lonesome Tears in My Eyes
- Long Tall Sally
- Lucille
- Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Moonlight Bay
- My Bonnie
- Nothin’ Shakin’
- Now And Then
- Ooh! My Soul

- Sure to Fall (In Love with You)
- Sweet Little Sixteen
- Take Good Care of My Baby
- Teddy Boy
- Thank You Girl
- That’ll Be The Day
- That’s All Right (Mama)
- Three Cool Cats
- To Know Her Is To Love Her
- Too Much Monkey Business
- Yes It Is
- You Know What To Do
- You’ll Be Mine

I’ve probably missed some… Okay, there are more than I few, like I said in the original post.

So, Egroeg, what you’re saying is that you don’t have Past Masters , Anthology‘s 1, 2 & 3 and Live At The BBC ? The rest of your list are still unreleased. A few different things have cropped up on YouTube claiming to be Carnival Of Light , but nobody knows for sure. Etcetera has never turned to my knowledge (could just be out of date on that though). A Little Rhyme is just a title attached to a piece of BBC radio dialogue on Live At The BBC , along with things like Riding on a Bus and Ooh! My Arms.

It’s like I always say, there are different levels of being a fan.Seven of them.
Haha, I love that story. I’ve been in that ‘revelation’ mode before.

You need to get Past Masters (actually, you have to get all of them, but Past Masters is most urgent). I Call Your Name and I’ll Get You are two of my favorites! How have you never heard Little Child , but have heard all the other songs off With The Beatles ?

I’d agree with unknown, Past Masters should be your most urgent, as it gathers together all their non-album tracks; I would recommend Live At The BBC next, as you have Anthology Highlights (didn’t even know there was such a thing), and BBC adds so many covers you will only find there, followed by Anthology 1-3 (though were I buying them now, I would go 3, 2, 1).

My boss tried being one of these “fake” fans today. He doesn’t like the Beatles (although I think he does a little but would never admit it) but sometimes he’ll surprise me and know some random facts about them..
..Today he tried and failed. He’s like (to me and this older guy I work with who is a musician and super awesome and basically my work BFF) “Who was the fifth Beatle?” and I smugly replied with “Well that has been pinned on a lot of people and it’s really just a matter of opinion… Neil Aspinall? Mal Evans? George Martin? Stuart Sutcliffe?” and he’s like “Pete Best..” and we’re both like “No. He was the drummer before Ringo and got booted out because he wasn’t as good.” Nice try boss, but no dice.
Then my brain went to the Simpsons episode with Paul where Apu is like “Back then I was known as the fifth Beatle!” Paul: “Sure you were, Apu..”
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Hate to say you’re wrong, LHL, but Pete often makes the lists of those counted as “5th Beatle”. Look at the Wikipedia entry for “Fifth Beatle” and he’s there at number two, after Stuart Sutcliffe.

Wikipedia once told me that the first President of the United States was “Katniss Everdeen”…. so, I rest my case.
It is a matter of opinion, though. When I think “5th Beatle” I think an extra person that was always with them when they were “The Fab Four”… so then in my opinion, Pete doesn’t count… but I do see your point.
The following people thank LongHairedLady for this post:
