@Expert Textpert I don’t know the quote but I’d suggest it’s John revision. The song was written in India, before John and Yoko properly got together on 19 May 1968. It was among the songs demoed at George’s at the end of May. Any contribution by Yoko would have been minor.

Well, according to this book Yoko was writing John letters in India and they met and finished the song when he got back. Apparently she helped with all but the first two lines, which he took from a Kahlil Gibran proverb. This is the first I’ve read about this, though.

I meant to post this link earlier, but I thought you guys might like to see some photos I took at The Hollywood Bowl of a night celebration Japanese music in 2011. Yoko made an appearance and performed with Yellow Magic Orchestra.
Happy birthday, Yoko!

I really like this. The backing track is fantastic, really alive with a cracking groove, and fit wonderfully with Yoko’s vocals which suit the piece.

I always feel like such a philistine whenever the subject of Yoko’s art comes up. I suspect I’m not alone–too much of a hick to appreciate the finer things in life. I’ve heard there are two kinds of people in the world: those who get opera, and those who do not. There’s nobody who falls in between. I think the same can be said about Yoko’s art.

OudisI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Its the same with most things i think. Whilst most of some things (like Opera or Modern Jazz – which i detest with a fiery passion) you will not like or understand very occasionally something with crop up from that which you will find enjoyable.
I dislike most of Yoko’s output (about 98%), its just not to my liking, but once or twice i discover a piece i do like. Aside from the one above i also really enjoy ‘Her Blues (A Whole Lot Of Yoko)’ from the ‘Rock ‘n Roll Circus’ recordings.

You’re right, as usual, mmm, that’s a solid rocker. And since this is the Yoko Ono appreciation thread, I won’t say what I expect most are thinking about Yoko’s added value to the piece.

I have to admit, I am absolutely not 1 of her fans in anyway, or any of the other band members wives, other than Linda. I could tolerate looking at though!
