I didn’t know this thread existed but Im glad it does. I might be a border line Yoko fangirl, all my friends say I am.
I’ve unironically listened to a Yoko album (Starpeace), I enjoyed listening to Why. My proflie picture is a drawing of Yoko (I stole it from the Little People Big Dreams Yoko Ono picture book). I guess the Yoko fangirling started when my friends and I watched some of her performance art and due to our wacky sense of humor we thought it was one of the coolest things in the world. We enjoyed the art ironically but uh… it turned unironic for me. I’ve made Yoko buttons for all of my friends. For two years I had Yoko buttons on my hat. I don’t think Yoko is that bad. I’ve begged my parents to get me the “Little People Big Dream Yoko Ono picture book for kids” and my mother said if we owned that she would burn it (I think that means no).
Fun fact, 2018 she voiced a character called Yoko-Ono in the Wes Anderson film “Isle of Dogs”. I think she did a good job. Her character doesn’t have very many lines but still YOKO. I remember first watching the movie and going “Haha how funny, that character is called Yoko Ono what a funny coincidence…wait…” and I then looked up if she was in the film and She is. (This rambling was mostly an excuse to yap about Isle of Dogs, great movie highly recomend)
The Yoko fangirling is becoming a concern to my parents.

There’s no shame in appreciating Yoko’s work or being a “fangirl”, Oakwood – several of us here have been always appreciate of Yoko’s music since before finding the Forum (sincerely and not “ironically”, which is a terrible way to listen to music)

I don’t have anything of Yoko’s that doesn’t come with John’s work, but I’ve always enjoyed her B-sides Listen, the Snow is Falling and Who Has Sen the Wind? The latter is a delightful nursery rhyme.

Her “Plastic Ono Band” is almost as much a showpiece for John/Ringo/Klaus Voormann as a hard-rock trio as it is for Yoko
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

With a couple of exceptions, I’m not a fan of Yoko for her musical contributions per se musically, but I do appreciate her perspective & attitude she brings to music (and art in general).
Try “Death Of Samantha”, it slaps!
