^^^ You’re very welcome, Zig! I must say though, without your title, this thread would probably be called something much less fitting.
I aim to bring a good bit more appreciation for these lovely Germans to the forum, and I think I may be succeeding somehow!

Anyway, that is really a great thread @WeepingAtlasCedars it’s a shame I have never have noticed it before! When I saw the documentary Living in the material world Klaus was talking about George and he found such fantastic words. It was so moving but I unfortunately couldn’t find it on youtube.
Instead, I found this great picture:

Looks like there is a prototype for this one in the corner of the picture @Martha posted.

Also, I saw the video for George’s Miss O’Dell yesterday, oh boy. There are a few cool shots of Klaus sitting at the table with George, Ringo and crew.

I was just looking around a little at pictures of Klaus during and around his time with Manfred Mann and that, and dear me did I find some nice ones! Unfortunately most of the good ones were stock photos. Here’s two of my favourites anyway:
Wow! Look at the detail in his hair!
I have never seen him in a purple polo neck before! This would be at least in my top 5 favourite photos of him if it weren’t for the watermarks.

Also, something I noticed from the last 3:
Klaus is left-handed!? I hadn’t noticed! It seems he plays bass and guitar right-handed, and I’m not sure exactly what the difference is when holding a flute, so that may be why I never knew.

Fun fact:
Ringo plays guitar on I Need You .
He taps the drum beat using the back of an acoustic guitar.

I think it would be so cool to have Klaus draw a picture of me in the style of Revolver . I can picture him as one of the sketch artists on Place du Tertre in Paris drawing my picture.
He could auction off drawings to raise money for charities.

Oh yeah, now that you mention it, I think I recall seeing his cartoon of being asked to do Revolver , and he depicted himself drawing with his left hand. But here’s photographic proof! Cool!
A lot of lefties learn to play guitar the ‘conventional’ right-handed way, just because it’s easier to find guitars and that sort of thing. ‘Tis a righty world, alas.

There has been a question that I have been pondering for a little while now. I feel silly not knowing the answer, being such a fan of the these three and all.
But, how exactly do you pronounce Astrid`s last name?
@Martha and/or @AppleScruffJunior, perhaps could you lend some of your assistance? Please?

Yes, the ‘ch’ is mean but your ‘th’ is, too!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the syllables Kir- and -herr are probably no problem, are they? Just pronounce them as in the snippet Applescruffjunior showed. If you want to study the ‘ch’*, however, there is a funny trick with which you can try it. Imitate a sound as if you were laughing (hihihihihihi) and make sure you support it with your diaphragm. Then, slowly take the sound away so that you have a pitchless noise which in my opinion sounds a bit like a high pitched dog panting… weird, I know. If you are able to produce this sound you can implement it into Kir-ch-herr and, voilà!
*at least, the way it’s used in Kirchherr

I have no problems with the ‘ch’s, thankfully. A wonderful Austrian friend of mine has a perfect RP English accent except when it comes to the letter ‘w’- she says daablle ooh”

Ah, thanks very much, you too! That helps quite a bit (though I’ll still need practice, of course).

I don’t think they are particularly troubling. I think I’m just very under-practiced, that’s all.

Thanks much for the tip! I always thought that there might have been an almost cat hiss-type sound, would that perchance be any similar? Sorry if that was a silly question.
B’aawww, what a lovely photo.
Thanks much, again!

I’m sorry, that’s no problem. You can maybe just say ‘near’ and replace the ‘n’ by a ‘k’ when you want to say ‘Kir’. The ‘i’ is going to be a bit long then, perhaps pronounce the ‘i’ just as in ‘kitchen’, that should work. As for ‘herr’, it sounds basically just like ‘there’ but with an ‘h’ instead of a ‘t’ at the beginning. Does this help?

No, not at all a silly question. That’s actually a good comparison for many occasions in which ‘ch’ is used. If you managed to pronounce it a little bit lighter and not that threatening as a cat hiss, that would be the icing on the cake!
Fun fact: Did you know that Kirchherr means ‘church man’ if you translate it word by word?
Another nice picture of Astrid together with Klaus and Heinz Kessling:
Doesn’t she look amazing with a ponytail?
