I found this to be an interesting read on Mal Evans:

A tragic end to a storied life, one of a select few that could be labeled as a true friend of The Beatles, one who helped them out tremendously way back when they didn’t have a pot to pee in…:-)

Yes, I found those diaries useful in writing Into the Sky. It’s remarkable how taken for granted he was.

None of them attended his funeral.

@roscoe Right. You can argue all day long about who was right and who was wrong in the Beatle break-up, but I think we’d all agree that was a moral low point in their lives.

I wouldn’t read a whole lot into that, there’s many reasons why The Beatles would’ve opted not to be present and I don’t believe that it had to do with any of them not wanting to be there. Having any one of the four present would’ve turned the memorial service into a media circus, something that Mal’s Family & Friends certainly wanted to avoid for even to this day, details on Mal’s tragic death are still being kept all but off-limits to the press. The last thing that Mal’s Family needed was reporters clamouring to get a quote from Ringo on when The Beatles were getting back together, a question that came up anywhere they went back in 1976, during what would’ve no doubt been a troubling time for all who knew and loved him, I have no doubt that ALL FOUR Beatles privately paid their respects to Big Mal and his Family, anymore details about it is simply none of our business…:-)

Thanks so much for posting the link to that article upthread @Billy Rhythm . It’ll make for a good read when time permits.
I agree that not too much should be read into the fact that the boys were absent from Mal’s funeral. For those not aware, they also stayed away from Brian’s funeral to avoid a media circus.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

For those who have time to waste, have done everything possible to waste it and now and have time on their hands and cannot think of anything else left to do,
An article (i’m hoping its all a joke, i havent read the full thing as time cant be wasted that badly) putting forward the theory that Mal’s death was faked.

Great read, @Billy Rhythm, thanks a bunch.

The only thing remotely worth the click was this cute photo.

I’m not sure about that version of ‘Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite’ though, or why the poster felt it suitable to use for this tribute, but a lot of nice moments on film for sure…:-)
Thanks Billy……Did you know that ‘Rhythms’……is the longest word in the English language without vowels?
Sorry it’s a slow news day.

What happened to “and sometimes Y”? Isn’t this one of those times?

You’re in my wheelhouse now, Anna. I’m sure it has been observed many times that I don’t know anything about the Beatles, but I have a stubborn, pathetic and ultimately sad interest in English grammar.

^ I don’t believe that for a second. After all, you must know something about the Beatles if your ‘location’ is gleaned from SFF and your username references something Beatley which I still haven’t figured out– and I fancy I know a bit about the Fabs.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the thread topic monitor (oh wait, that’s you), look at post 232. Poor Mal, I feel like he got kicked around and taken for granted for years by the Lads, and now we’re doing it to him again on this thread.

Oh, but he is so happy to be remembered just like he was so happy to be around The Beatles.
No, I didn’t just say that. That was really bad. Sorry, Mal.
