If any of you know of the YouTube music critic The Needle Drop (aka Anthony Fantano) then you may have seen a recent installment of his ‘stink piece’ series where he basically reacts to bad music writing on the internet.
This is one such example of horrific music writing. Enjoy. I look forward to your critisicms of this misguided, idiotic, hypocritical mess.

The article may suck, especially when it tries to say that rock music before Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band is for girls and that disco is for gay people, but is it truly the worst, i think this one is worse.

My main critisicm of it is that (in trying to call out sexism) it suggests that women are only capable of liking simple danceable music (and that all male music fans are pretentious elitists) which is far more sexist. If there are any female fans on here from the the time I’m sure they can corroborate that they enjoyed Sgt Pepper just as much as male fans.
Also, Sgt Pepper a B+ record? She is having a laugh.

Unless I’m missing something, however, I can’t see what’s so bad about that YS article.

Quite a few things. For one, it lists Paul as playing acoustic guitar. Also, Robert Fontenot is a very unreliable source and since i consider him the internet’s most horrendously bad Beatles article writer (mainly due to his hundreds of inaccuracies and shadiness (he deleted quite a few of his articles)), i needed an example from him.

I feel you, the thought of someone claiming that Paul played acoustic guitar on Yellow Submarine makes me want to shake a hairbrush in anger too.

Since when did any popular music which predates Sgt Pepper appeal only to the young teenage girls of that time? So what were boys, such as The Beatles themselves in their adolescences, listening to before then, Amanda Marcotte? Definitely not Elvis, Chuck, Little Richard or Buddy in your opinion, because they only appealed to girls. You make it seem as if they, along with many other bands who spawned in the 50s and 60s gathered inspiration from nowhere and just Out Of The Blue decided to be a band.

“Hip-hop is based on disco samples.” Ahahahaha no, I think the Beastie Boys might have an issue with this statement. But generally this kind of musical criticism is there to be noticed, it’s a kind of dumb hipsterism.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Well @Dark Overlord I made the thread to share that horrendous article, but feel free to share other bits of bad Beatles writing for us to laugh at.

Concerning the horrible Sgt. Pepper article, it’s as if the errr writer haha thought, well, everyone else is lauding the album on its 50th, so I’ll tear it down (badly and unconvincingly) so as to stand out as a great unconventional voice. Not so great.

I thought that. Is the slow, trippy LSD fest song really dance music?

Haha the other music msb I frequent has had a rolling “is this the worst piece of pop music writing ever?” thread for about ten years, and when they reposted that Marcotte piece last month it was good for a thousand new posts of ridicule on the thread
