@Neely, I searched the thread, and no one has mentioned that cover before. Thanks! Welcome to the Fab Forum!
Here’s the way I searched. Just put your word or phrase in the browser search bar followed by site: and the thread you want to search. For example:
Coxon site:beatlesbible.com/forum/yesterday-and-today/the-best-beatles-cover-versions/
If you don’t know which thread you are looking for to post something, type in your word or phrase and site:beatlesbible.com/forum.
example: eyesight site:beatlesbible.com/forum
To search ALL of the Beatles Bible (not just the forum) use site:beatlesbible.com (leave off /forum).
Hope this helps.

For as long as I can remember, in the good and bad books that I have read about them, it has always been said that this 1963 recording by Kenny Lynch is the first cover of a Lennon/McCartney song:
Written for Helen Shapiro while on tour supporting her in early 1963, her George Martin, Norrie Paramor, turned it down because he thought it too dour for her. Lynch was another of the supporting acts, had heard them working on it, and asked if he could record it, which he did. While not strictly a cover as Lynch’s version was released before theirs, it has long been regarded as the first cover.
Except it isn’t!
The Cannon label released a various artists EP in late 1962, and the lead track was this offering by The Sparrows…
And so it seems theirs is the claim to fame, with it being released at least a couple of months earlier than Lynch’s version of Misery .
Just when you think you know what there is to know, even if some of it is rough and needs double-checking when a question’s asked, something comes along to surprise again!

I first discovered that The Sparrows covered Love Me Do through reading the extended version of ‘Tune In’. It’s a good version, but The Beatles’ one will always be the best.

I’ve been following both these channels for years so this is an amazing crossover for me, but also, it’s just plain incredible! Especially the harmonies!

I love Wilson Pickett’s cover of Hey Jude that was released on his 9th album of the same name in 1969.
British pop act, Saint Etienne sampled it on a track called Wilson that was included on their 1991 debut album, Foxbase Alpha, while the spoken parts are taken from a 1971 Decimal Currency Training record.
