I really love this slow country version of Please Please Me by Wyckham Porteous. John originally wrote the song at a much slower tempo than the one we know.

I mean… It’s by no means ‘the best’ cover of I Am The Walrus … and it isn’t really other ‘musicians’ either…
But it’s I Am The Walrus , with walruses!! (first 7 minutes are him finding the sounds… which is amazing)

I liked it! Been hearing a lot of their music the last few months (and new James Bond theme coming soon). She also plays the ukulele. Here’s a little bit of I Will from Corden the other night:

It’s good but I think it would be a lot better without the pre-recorded backing track as it’s not needed.

Came across this beautiful version of Don’t Let Me Down by Paolo Nutini, very different approach to the original…
And there’s also this, uploaded a couple of days ago, by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, who George sometimes played with and was an honorary member of…

I’ll let Paul tell you the story behind this cover…
Paul’s Walk of Fame Star was unveiled on 9 February 2012; the MusiCares event (which Paul doesn’t mention was to honour him as their “Person of the Year”) was on 10 February.
It’s a damn great version, Neil Young & Crazy Horse…

Here are a few I found quite interesting…
Norah Jones (who has her Beatles connections, with Ravi Shankar being her father and all) did a 20-minute livestream concert at the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York City on 9 December last year to promote her latest album, I Dream of Christmas.
After the livestream was finished, she continued with these two that she posted on 28 January as a nod to the anniversary of the Rooftop concert; we have I’ve Got A Feeling …
…followed by Let It Be …
Next we have a couple of interesting takes on George’s All Things Must Pass …
I’ve posted about Klaus’ 2009 album, credited to Voormann & Friends, A Sideman’s Journey, when I posted about the version of I’m in Love Again which was done for the album – recorded with Paul at Hog Hill Mill, and Ringo in L.A.. This version is another track from the album, Klaus and Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens)…
And to finish off with we have a live version from The Waterboys performance at the 2007 Woodstock; Steve Wickham’s fiddle is lovely…

Siouxsie & The Banshees’ take on “Dear Prudence ” is generally well-regarded; it’s never done much for me, but I really like their version of “Helter Skelter “

The opening of last night’s Eurovision Song Contest, credited to Rockin’ 1000, Give Peace A Chance …
A good show for the UK coming second after two decades of disappointing results, with Ukraine winning on the public vote, and their win was totally expected (another year maybe a different result, but this year the right result).
