I got pulled over once for speeding while listening to this song. Luckily the cop also had an Irish surname and dug The Beatles

Last week U2 performed at the O2 in London and invited Noel Gallagher up on stage to join them for Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. They then proceeded to sing All You Need Is Love , in the most unlogical transition between songs ever, I mean, it’s not even in the same key or tempo. It’s not a great cover but anyway, thought some U2 fans might enjoy it.

^ I’m a fan but that is one awkward transition and one average performance.
And who is doing their hair nowadays? (for those that have hair – sorry Edge – I’m the same).

I’ve been listening to The Waterboys’ Fisherman’s Box, and there’s some interesting Beatley takes in among the three years of sessions for their Fisherman’s Blues landmark album.
Now, on the first day of recording, they record this beautiful version of Van Morrison’s Sweet Thing which drifts into The Beatles Blackbird (at 4:26), this was good enough to make this groundbreaking album:

The box adds the last couple of minutes of the recording that was edited off:
list=PL9kkboiDms6S4nDn6WOlE4HmFEJYeqeqV&index=15
A little further on the temptingly titled Dee Jay Way, surely a parody of some sort… Oh dear, not, nothing but a parody title, parental advisory:

A little later on there is this:
index=54&list=PL9kkboiDms6S4nDn6WOlE4HmFEJYeqeqV
but I didn’t recognise it!
But months, years, later, toward the end of the sessions, they recorded this, which I think is brilliant:

Wow, what an awesome cover version of Sweet Thing (with the unexpected Blackbird floating in at the end). I’m going to have to find this album on Saturday for some uplift from the current gloomy skies. Thanks for posting @Ron Nasty !

Okay, maybe it’s just because I have a sister about this age who Beatles with me, but the little girl in this cover of If You’ve Got Trouble just stole me heart. And she does a great solo!
I s’pose the rest ain’t bad either

Laibach from then Yugoslavia released this version in 1988, after John Peel had been promoting all those Bulgarian female choires and I at once thought that this was a nice reference. The video obviously was added much later.

The old McCartney-song, but I only learned about it from this version. I think the boys treated it beautifully:

As promised, Every Little Thing in all it’s (some would say bombastic) progressive rock glory. Note-the intro is a couple of minutes long…
whereupon Silly Girl approvingly noted
Prog rock is cool. Day Tripper woven into Every Little Thing is cooler.
Nice harmonies too!

You want prog rock Beatles covers, @Beatlebug, give this a try from Deep Purple’s first album in 1968. Prog rock before it was invented!

Usually I despise Beatles covers (not by you folks, though! ), but this one is really really awesome! Very cool how he overdubbed/added/whateveritis the backing vocals to the last each one believing that love never dies, watching their eyes as in the original. Touches like that (along with his lovely ballad-y voice ) just make it all the while better!
After all, I couldn’t possibly think anything less of the Great Gilmour.
And, to be truthfully honest, I was expecting something Floydy here from SG at some point or another.
Thanks very much, SG!
