Great cover of Dig A Pony by St. Vincent, never heard of her before this, her music is nothing Id be interested in unless she did more of this, but really great cover. I love how she’s comes back into the verse from the solo.

^^ Her performance on SNL was visually interesting, but I couldn’t get into her music. But that’s a good one.

I wonder how much of kick John would have gotten to see a new artist cover Dig A Pony , a song he never rated and called garbage, 40 years after it was recorded. I also wonder how many in the audience knew it was a Beatles track as that is one deep cut.

Like I said, her music I don’t think I’d enjoy, but I really like that cover. I knew she was on SNL, but don’t watch too much TV, I’ll have to look up the performance.

He’d definately find it amusing! And probably not too many.

In 1966, the consummate guitarist Chet Atkins (died in 2001) put out a cleverly titled album, Chet Atkins Picks on the Beatles.
The idea was good, but I find his playing on that album uninspired, compared with so much other solid gold he put out in later years.

That reminds me that I need to hear The Supremes’ 1964 Beatles/Merseybeat tribute album A Bit of Liverpool someday. Even if it sucks, the cover photo is classic.

I wasn’t aware that he had ever done a cover of this song until today. This particular recording of it is done in a medley with Robert Johnson’s “I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom.” There was another version of Rory playing this song on youtube that wasn’t a medley, but the sound quality was terrible.
EDIT: For some reason or other, the video isn’t embedding, but that link should be correct.

@parlance Wait a second. How do you cover Revolution 9 ? It’s a collage of sounds! How do you replicate that?
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

Re the above Revolution 9 cover video, it must have been so much fun to do, its certainly fun to watch. John would have totally loved that.

I hope it hasn’t been mentionned yet but I think the Franz Ferdinand’s cover of It won’t be long is super cool, I know a lot of people dislike it but I really like the punky vibe to it and if you know them, it really has a FF touch. I also like Tom Odell’s cover to Oh Darling, it’s just very lovely and with a lot of feelings inside it.
