Thats the one!
John obviously gives it to George to read out to the others. But it makes you wonder, From his comments it sounds like Johns going to tell her to do one, but did this cause a resentment between him and the Sutcliffe family over the years ? The author of the book seems to have a bit of bitterness about how Stuart was written out of the Beatles story, yet it was John that made sure his image was on the Sgt Pepper sleeve.
So to sum up, I think John had a sexual relationship with Stuart and may well have ‘lashed out’ at him, but it’s highly unlikely to have caused his death.

I don’t know if this was ever posted on the forum but I only heard about it a few days ago. Stuart’s sister, Pauline, who was the custodian of his estate, died back in October 2019. That’s it for the Sutcliffe legacy I guess :/ .

Not quite the end of the line, @AppleScruffJunior. While I believe his other sister, Joyce, has also passed, her son Andrew is still with us, as are his children. The Sutcliffe legacy continues.

Good to hear about Andrew but I meant it more in a ‘there’s no one from the Sutcliffe family who talks publicly about him anymore’. I didn’t know Joyce had died, she was at the opening of his memorial bench in Liverpool a while back.

Now we seem to have a Brian Epstein statue, time to start lobbying for one of Stu.
In the tight black leather.
Either outside the art college or leaning against the rails at Gambier Terrance. Preferably outside No. 3 if Gambier Terrace.

I believe in the comments to Joe’s Sutcliffe page someone posted that Sutcliffe had also three half-siblings whom nobody mentions.

Someone else in the comments to Joe’s page linked to a website that presents a good argument refuting the oft-repeated claim that “Sutcliffe was a mediocre bass player”. If this argument is cogent, it could be a game-changer for the narrative of the Early Beatles.

Very interesting!
I’ve been playing a lot of bass lately and it definitely gets mischaracterized as “the easy instrument that doesn’t matter that much if it’s bad”. Bassists are the glue that hold a band together, and while they don’t have to be fancy, they do have to be good.

Given Paul’s criticism of Stu’s ability on bass over the years, I was rather surprised to come across this comment made during a 1964 interview with Beat International:Not that I’m suggesting that every bass player should learn on an ordinary guitar. Stuart Sutcliffe certainly didn’t, and he was a great bass man.
It does make you wonder if Stuart was a better player than is often made out.
When I had written that previous comment many moons ago, I hadn’t read through all pages — and found these helpful posts from Ron Nasty — and his subsequent post as well:

Is Paul’s memory (in all the other comments I’ve seen about Stu) that shitty that he doesn’t remember how good Stu’s bass playing was? Or has he been lying?

The Estate of Stuart Sutcliffe, Artist and Original Beatles Member, Is Selling Its Entire Collection https://news.artnet.com/art-wo…..le-2423999
Their big hope is to keep the collection together. I hope they find a buyer who will make the collection accessible to the fans.
