No doubt these have both probably been mentioned somewhere in the bowels of this thread, but I can’t recall either song as having been previously posted.
First up we have Rainbo (aka actress Sissy Spacek) lamenting the Two Virgins album cover in 1968’s John You Went Too Far This Time…
And from the following year, Bob Brady and the Con Chords using the pseudonym The Mystery Tour jumping into PiD with The Ballad of Paul…

I never knew Sissy Spacek sang. The lyrics are weird and don’t really clarify why the two virgins cover bothers the songwriters.
Now today I find, you have changed your mind

This may already be somewhere amongst all of the entries to the thread but recently this came on while I was listening to music:

It made me think of you all so I thought I’d mention it
The Beatles reference comes at around 35 seconds in and translates to “it was 40 years ago today, the Beatles were the lonely hearts club band, your (paternal) grandmother had just turned 18”
(Although the song was right with the 40 years at the time of it’s release they sure aren’t referring to my grandmother, she would have been 23 at the time)

Billy Bragg’s Northern Industrial Town has “Merry Christmas, war is over,” as its penultimate line…

This isn’t a “mention” of, as much as an homage to, their transatlantic rock friends’ music: The Byrds’ The Notorious Byrd Brothers album opens up with the couplet “Sittin all alone now/I took my ticket to ri-hi-hide”

Was listening to Chicago (Transit Authority)’s 1969 debut album last night, and found that the song “South California Purples” quotes the entire “I am he….and we are all together” line from “Walrus” in the middle of its own lyric.
