Speaking of which aren’t an online forum and a place full of strangers the same thing? For all ye know I’m a 60 year old Swiss man called Jurgen who is a Rolling Stones fan.Pretty much…
Yeah, I totally see you as a 60 year old Swiss man named Jurgen who’s a Rolling Stones fan. Who (occasionally) fangirls over George Harrison and talks about
herhis Leaving Certificate. Why does that not make a convincing picture?…
I could have a niece that is a George Harrison fan and is Irish and she sometimes uses this forum as I gave her the password.

If you want to throw a bible based (not beatles bible) party here is a complete list of which ingredients feature. Mustard is in.
He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

The unicorn thing is true……. I swear it on the Bible…..Though the Bible actually forbids anyone doing that.
‘Jesus wept’ (shortest verse in the Bible)…..You got me there on gullible…..it’s the word ‘gullibility’ that’s missing!!

Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn’t argue with that; I’m right and I will be proved right. We’re more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first – rock and roll or Christianity.
Yes, he did. I would say that’s what he thought at the time, but with his drug use, I’m not 100% sure. And what he thought later? I can’t really say, I haven’t looked that far into the topic. In any case, Christianity is still here
And so are The Beatles……..

Yep, I had to look it up after reading that! Didn’t bother posting it in the “things I learned today” thread tho.

I think it was a mistranslation or a generalisation of some wild animals who wouldn’t do farmyard work it’s still funny though. My religion teacher a year back wouldn’t believe me when I said unicorns were mentioned in the Bible, I was right sir
Speaking of the Bible, I pity the poor anteaters on Noah’s ark…

Noah didn’t take any plans so how are their still plants today? Did all the animals include fish?

Maybe he took on board two seeds of every plant as well.
Why take on an animal that lives in the water, would just be more work to do?

That would mean that the person who wrote two of every animals must of made a generalization!

Right? It’s not like the flood would’ve drowned them.

Though the freshwater fish wouldn’t have done too well in salt water.
And as for the plants, look at any flooded area a couple of months later and the vegetation is back. Lots of plants just come back after virtually anything – flood, drought, fire, rock festival… Not that they wouldn’t have taken some plants. Lots of animals are herbivores. Had to feed them some way.

I like to spoil fun so here we go:
Noah didn’t take 2 of every animal, it depended on whether they were ‘clean’ or ‘unclean’. Unclean animals have cloven feet/split hooves, do not chew cud and fish that have no scales or fins so that means dogs, shellfish, lobsters, pigs, donkeys, cats horses etc. were brought on with only one male and one female.
Every other animal (i.e the clean ones) got 7 animals- 1 male and 6 females.
Here’s the passage from Genesis 7:2-3:
You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.
And “why do I know this?” I hear you all cry out- as an 11 year old I was bet €20 I wouldn’t read all of the Old Testament, I showed them! (Yes being a child in Ireland is great fun).

Well the aim of the flood was to kill all of the sinners, except for Noah and his family because they were great and I don’t think Noah’s family chewed cud…or maybe they did as they were part-cow *shrugs*.

I know I’m great and everything Anna but I’m not a God 😉
But humans have the consciousness to make decisions- they know what is morally right or wrong whereas animals just go with their instinct.
For example if I saw a weaker person in front of me I don’t go and kill them because I can (or because I need food) unlike animals who do it to survive and for enjoyment (see lions).

That can bring up an interesting point cause there are some animals that can go against their natural instinct. I wonder at what level does an animal or any living being become able to sin?

I have to disagree with this a little bit. Yes, we have volition, free will etc. and can make decisions as to what actions to take. But morality – right and wrong – is something which is entirely a construct of society, and simply does not exist outside a particular group’s decision to make XYZ one of its rules. Which explains why different societies have different laws and different ideas of what is right and what isn’t. We don’t KNOW what’s right and wrong, we only know what we’ve been taught is right and wrong.
