That much green, purple, and yellow…looks like they should have gone for New Orleans Mardi Gras parade theme instead of hula dancers.

Acetates of Beatles tracks were put up on ebay a while back and have started to appear on bootlegs (one title being ‘Acetates Collection volume 4’ (see spoiler for images). Haven’t heard the full bootleg but 18 tracks are available to hear* and early reports are that some are different and new.
- ‘Taxman ‘ has a different ending to both ‘Revolver ‘ and ‘Anthology 2 ‘ versions.
- The second ‘And Your Bird Can Sing ‘ has different guitar work.
Additionally but less minor is the ‘Two Of Us ‘ outtake from the ‘Get Back ‘ sessions which is a mono acetate mix where previously it was in stereo.
If any more are identified as being new i’ll add them to the list.
*They’re not clearly identified so its a bit of fiddle but you can hear these 18 acetates here in the video 1/3 of the page down.

Isn’t this the second promo made with the Anthology 2 mix of the track overdubbed?
The second variation (B) was performed in front of a painted farmland backdrop and has the group dressed in their civilian clothes, with John in black apart from a white sports coat, Paul wearing his patchwork sweater vest, and the others in more psychedelic garb. This time Ringo plays his regular-size kit with the familiar Ludwig Beatles logo.

The issue is that to many Beatles fans its not crap. Many are blown away at the recent promos filled with previously unseen footage that have surfaced and are highly anticipating the next one to be uploaded (if there is one). The recent BBC and Star Club sets met with acclaim. All of this is what Apple could be doing and making money from. Its not a difficult realisation to come to that there is a demand for the original promo films to come out complete. Such a release would do no harm to the Beatles status or legacy and make Apple money so why not? The Beatles had a huge hand in the development of music videos so why not utilise it and make the money Apple so obviously crave.
Maybe someone who vetoed this a while ago is waiting for most of the potential buyers to shuffle off this mortal coil. Then when Apple (finally) release it they will be able to say “I told you so” from their bed in the aged care facility.

Rehearsal footage of the Beatles performing ‘Help !’ from the August 1965 ‘Ed Sullivan Show’ is on HMC’s ‘The Ultimate Ed Sullivan DVD Collection’. Most of the footage is also an upgrade in terms of the picture and sound (wogblog’s review).
Another HMC release is the ”The Long And Winding Road ‘; this is the original documentary that ended up, many years later, becoming ‘The Beatles Anthology. Among the footage is previously unseen footage from the ‘Get Back ‘ sessions (‘You Win Again’) and as bonus track’s new outtakes from the ‘Rain ‘, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘ and ‘A Day In The Life ‘ promo’s (wogblog review).
More unseen footage from promo’s are on HMC’s latest DVD ‘The Beatles at Abbey Road 1963′, this time from ‘Rain ‘, ‘Paperback Writer ‘, ‘Hey Jude ‘ & ‘A Day In The Life ‘ plus upgrades of the colour ‘Rain ‘ & ‘Paperback Writer ‘ videos aired on the Ed Sullivan show in June 1966 (I guess the Ed Sullivan footage here is therefore better than on the ‘Ultimate Ed Sullivan Collection’ which logically makes that release not “Ultimate’. Will have to find that out. ) (wogblog review).
The 2-cd HMC release ‘Take It Off’ has some new material including take 9 of ‘Misery ‘ (tho it crossfades into the commercial version towards the end), take 5 of ‘She’s A Woman ‘* which was the released version but here continues for longer instead of fading out as the single does and there is a new mix of ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘ take 25. Additionally there are new bits and pieces (not music) at the start and end of a handful of other tracks just not full outtakes (details can be found towards the bottom of this page).

Interesting stuff. The Taxman sounds like a first pass at an alternative ending to the basic track but I detect some experimental mixing as well. There’s different mixing in that And Your Bird Can Sing too, but perhaps they just did a retake for the master. The Tomorrow Never Knows sounds like RM11 (the tardy ADT on John’s vocal) but the mix wavers between that and RM8 but doesn’t have the solo feedback note like the stereo master. John sounds really loud in this acetate too.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Great…….. I have a copy of this on DVD……You can get anything in Thailand…..but it’s fun to watch on Youtube.
Love it more now I understand the Road-Hog thing. Great to watch the old bloke with the pipe climbing up the ladder……….great when John forgets his words……And at the end………
And I’ve always loved Paul’s laughing Get back over the titles.
They sold a lot of records….a lot of corduroy …….and a proportion of England’s tourism to this day is thanks to them.

Paul’s demo for ‘It’s For You’ is being auctioned on 27th August 2016 at the Liverpool Beatle Memorabilia Auction. 20 seconds of the demo can be heard at the link and is on YouTube.
Hopefully one day we will hear it complete.

An upgrade of the ‘It’s The Beatles’ audio from December 1963 has surfaced, Wogblog reports, which is in-line and complete from beginning to end. Wogblog writes
The uploader recorded the audio from the TV by wiring a tape recorder to the TV speaker. This is very dangerous. TVs had what was called a “hot chassis” in 1963, so poking around inside a TV set gave you about a 50-50 chance of electrocution.
Upon learning that bootleggers would probably use the recording for profit, the uploader deleted his Soundcloud file, but fortunately for Beatles historians and collectors, it was up there long enough for it to make it to some of these collectors…
Like I said, the recording was downloaded before it was deleted, and enthusiasts in the Beatles audio recordings community have been able to clean it up. This process has included speed correction (using the surviving video as reference), stereo playback head azimuth digitally corrected and recording then folded down to mono (recording was originally mono but played back on a stereo machine), mains hum removed, equalised for sharpening a somewhat dull sound, and bursts of static interference replaced with previous version of the same concert.
If you know where to go hunting you shall probably find it (please don’t post a download link to the actual recording if you have it, please don’t ask for someone to upload it).

I’m unsure if this is mentioned elsewhere but it appears new audio of the Beatles live on TV is up on YouTube. What one hears are excerpts from a longer set of recordings made by a teen-ager in late 1962. He captured the band on a program called “People and Places,” using an in-line connection. The group sounds incredible, very raw and very Rock ‘N’ Roll . Maybe someday we will hear the entire thing.

These excerpts are sourced from a sampler tape of The Beatles’ first television performances.
October 17 1962:
The Beatles made their debut on television on this day, with an appearance in Manchester on the local programme “People And Places”. The group rehearsed before cameras from 3 – 4 p.m., and again from 4.15-6 p.m. The show was broadcast live from 6.35-7 p.m., and sang two songs: “Some Other Guy” and their new single “Love Me Do ”.
01. Some Other Guy [0:00]
02. Love Me Do [0:29]
October 29 1962:
Twelve days after their debut television appearance, the group returned on the “People And Places” show for a second performance. The appearance was rehearsed and recorded in Studio Four from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. They performed “Love Me Do ” & “A Taste Of Honey ”. During “Love Me Do ”, John sang, seated, as if he were a solo performer fronting a band. The others in the group all stood. During the second song all members played their instruments, although wearing waistcoats rather than their suit jackets. Unlike the first edition, this show was not broadcast live. It was eventually shown in the north and north-west of England from 6.30 – 7 p.m. on 2 of November.
03. A Taste Of Honey [1:17]
December 17 1962:
Their third appearance on the show, following rehearsals held from 3 – 4 p.m., the show was broadcast live from 6.35-7 p.m. from Studio Four at Granada TV Centre in Manchester. The group performed two songs: “Love Me Do ” & “Twist And Shout ”.
04. Twist And Shout [2:34]
The first three pictures are from their second appearance on the 29th of October 1962 & the last is from their London area television debut on ITV’s “Tuesday Rendezvous” from the 4th of December 1962 (which is also presumed lost).

My post includes all the relevant information regarding each of the tracks, too.
But the actual audio is what everyone should dig into. As I write, what we hear is really exciting stuff, and in very good quality.
It’s unfortunate the original mention is buried in a single post on page 181 of a pinned topic. Very few will see it.
Such finds deserve their own topic for all to enjoy, don’t you agree?
