It happened a couple of weeks ago, but I thought I’d ask:
Did anyone pick up the “Maybe I’m Amazed ” 12-inch? I got mine! Side one is the full-length and radio edit in stereo, side two is mono. A nice teaser for the upcoming “Wings Over America ” reissue.
Or did anyone get any other RSD exclusives? I might still get the Rolling Stones 5×5 EP… My local shop has a few copies.

Offline Did consider getting the single but decided not to in the end, didn’t think I was really missing out by not getting it. I need to save my money up as there are quite a few more expensive things coming out over the next few months that I’ll want, and my parents aren’t very willing to pay for.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

I don’t really understand the appeal of RSD. Labels put out expensive limited editions of things you probably already own. People buy them because they’re rare (and many get resold immediately on eBay because they’re rare). It seems like a licence to print money, much of which goes back to the major labels. Yes, it supports local independent stores but why not buy something you don’t already have, instead of a cynically-released reissue?
That said, I bought the Beatles vinyl box set when it came out, despite already owning the music. I’m not immune!

Offline The Long Tall Sally EP is being reissued for RSD in the US (28 November). Apparently it’s limited to 7,000 copies.
I know I slagged off RSD upthread, but if anyone’s going shopping that day, and can get me a copy of the St Vincent 10″ of Pieta and ship it to the UK I’d be hugely grateful. Will reimburse, obviously. Info here.

Offline @Joe If the record store I go to up north participates in RSD I’ll see if I can grab a copy.
I’m in Florida now and the owner of my record store down here mentioned RSD when I stopped by yesterday. I’ll see if he can put it aside the EP and St Vincent record just in case the other one doesn’t do RSD.
Have you seen this video? I remember posting it a while back.

Yes, I’d seen that Dig A Pony performance before. It didn’t particularly grab me first time around, but her latest album is rarely out of my car stereo. I need to see her live.

The only reason I’m not going (even though I really want the Green Day live disc) is because a) I’m not going to be anywhere near civilization because my parents are annoying and insist on going to cabins in the middle of nowhere all the time, and b) because I don’t want to have to get to the store early just to maybe get that disc. It’s annoying, and I really wish they’d give that live EP a mass release. Oh well, sob story over.

Offline I just checked my old record store’s FB page, and wish I was there. There’s a video up of all the new releases on racks, and the second record to appear was the Long Tall Sally EP.
And the song playing in the background also happened to be Silly Love Songs… Rub it in Paul!
The local record store here is mainly wholesale, and the lady who runs it isn’t participating in RSD. No EP for me…

@Starr Shine? I got an email from a store nearby that has it! Didn’t think about it right away because its not strictly a record store. I couldn’t get it today, but I’m pretty sure they won’t sell them all today. It’s a big enough store that they should’ve gotten a decent amount.

Offline Sounds like everyone got what they wanted!
I didn’t get the St Vincent single on Black Friday. I had a couple of opportunities and offers from kind US people, but the day before I popped into my local record shop and they let me preorder the UK version which is out today. They weren’t supposed to (apparently very few copies made it over here) but the owner remembered me, even though I hadn’t been in the shop for about five years.
I’m going to pick up the record on Wednesday (fingers crossed they haven’t sold it to someone else).
