It’s a Taiwanese counterfeit, from around 1965. Apparently they were produced mainly for US GIs stationed there, so many Taiwanese pressings found their way to America. None of the releases were official (hence there’s no Taiwan discography on my site), but there were various titles produced there.

I don’t know; AFAIK it was mainly GIs who were asking for them, and so counterfeiters put them out to satisfy demand. Probably others were Beatles fans too, but the primary market was US soldiers. It’s not something I know a great deal about TBH.

Does anyone else's copy of Revolver have Ringo listed as Ringo Start of Yellow Submarine ? There are a couple of extra pages in my booklet of A Hard Day's Night, too.
Edit: Geeze…I’m an idiot! I guess the spelled them all wrong intentionally. Ignore me.
2nd Edit: Well…guess I'm not an idiot. How did I get a fake copy of the remasters? They certainly look and sound real enough. Anyone know anything about this?

Hell…it's a frickin' counterfeit! I can't believe I've been playing counterfeit music this whole time! The booklets and art are a mess, and I think the recordings aren't as good. I didn't really look to closely when I got the set a year ago. I uploaded all the music to my computer and put the box up. The packaging is cheap, too.
I think I either got them from ebay or Amazon. I'm not certain. I feel cheated somehow.

Sorry Minime. There are a heck of a lot of these around and loads of well meaning people bought them from sellers on reputable online sites under the illusion that they were getting the genuine product, not that that will be much comfort to you. They look good at first glance but close inspection reveals what you found, cheap artwork poorly put together with many typo's and errors.
All you can do is what mith said, inform the site that the seller is selling fakes, plus if possible rate the seller as a piece of crap that should be avoided for selling cheap garbage. I would be fuming.

If it’s EBay… I think you’re screwed out of your money.
If it’s Amazon… contact them immediately. If greater sums of money were involved, I suggest legal threats, but it’s only (I say this not patronisingly) $200 ish. I do feel really bad for you, Kedame. I really do. If you want to rant, just make as liberal use of my PM inbox as you want.

Well, I contacted the seller. They didn’t know it was counterfeit, and I believe them because if they did know, I highly doubt the would have contacted me back. It was only $117, so I guess I got what I paid for. I feel kind of attached to it now, so I don’t know if I will send it back and get a legit one, or just go ahead and keep it and get a legit one. I’m not sure if the music is not as high quality, but the artwork and craftsmanship sure aren't.
Thanks all for your concern. My stepdad asked if it really made a difference, and since I don’t look at the artwork a lot (as is evident from the fact that I’ve had it a year and just noticed), but it’s the principle of the matter. I want to know my money went to The Beatles, and I want to know I got the best quality product.

If you can get a refund or legit box from the seller then i would return it, if not keep it. I think it adds something to the product when you know its authentic whether its the beatles, clothes, art, whatever.
I had a look online Kedame to see if there was any comment on the music quality but it was all about the packaging differences.

The same thing happened to me
“Besides the Revolver errors, 2 other signs of counterfeit is if sgt peppers is printed like “Sgt Pepper ‘S Lonely Hearts Club Band” (note the capital S), and Wild Honey Pie is listed twice on the White Album .”
I’ve heard of fake mono box sets being sold on eBay too.

I hope someone can shed some light onto a question that’s been driving me crazy for some time. I have a monoaurl UAL 3366 A “A Hard Day’s Night ” (I Cry Instead) copy. The odd thing about this album is that is has Side 1 labels on both sides of the vinyl. Both sides are identical as far as the label but the cuts are actually a side one and side two. I haven’t been able to track down another copy to see if this is normal or not. Is this normal?
Mods, If this isn't the correct place for this question, please move or delete.
Thanks in advance!
John

That's the first I've heard such a thing. I'm not sure if that labeling makes it a rarity or just a production process gone horribly wrong. Perhaps Joe or Von Bontee can shed some light on that.

I found this page detailing the various pressings and their $ value but didn't read it in full – maybe there's some useful info there:
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.
I’m sure one of Bruce Spizer’s books has info on this, if it’s a known mispressing. If it’s not you might be sitting on something quite valuable. I’m not a record collector though – I never know about the value of these things.
