Hello everybody,
me and my friend are trying to figure what song we heard a long long time ago, and we thing it was the “menue song” that was playing in the anthology-dvd. Can anybody say what song it is?? Not 100% sure it was that dvd though…or maybe anybody can figure out what song I am reaching for??hehe.. 99.9% sure that the song isn’t from any of the albums.
thanks!
/Sebastian

@sebastianRuta Could it be Free As A Bird ? You may not have found it if you searched on their original albums, but it was released with the Anthology?

A question that always comes to my mind.
Out of all the releases and reissues since ‘LMD’ in 1962, which Beatles song has featured the most in the UK? That’s meaning taking every and all official albums, singles, EP’s etc (official as you get dubious releases for the ‘Star Club’, ‘Decca’, concerts and BBC material) and not including solo covers etc, only the Beatles performing it (tho can include a different type of performance (ie the ‘LATBBC’ version of ‘Honey Don’t ‘ is taken as a release of ‘Honey Don’t ‘, it doesn’t matter that John sings it instead oif Ringo).
Presumably it would need to be a single and album track, so maybe ‘LMD’ as that has the three different drummers, BBC performance and all the compilations and single re-releases (like the b-side of ‘NAT’ last year).

Just saw this on Twitter:“True or False? Ringo narrated a Thomas The Tank Engine episode”.
Well, is it true??
He narrated several episodes – the first 2 seasons in the 1980s. He’s synonymous with the show I feel – at least in Britain.

I’ve watched some of his videos. Hopefully he will help foster the next generation of Beatlemaniacs.

I have a question more about fangirls than the beatles, why did fangirls scream and chase the beatles through the streets? Like that just seems unreasonable.

I wonder, why did those worldwide masses of girls STOP screaming and hounding The Beatles? It seems strange that such a mass sociopsychological phenomenon would just turn off suddenly like a faucet.

I think at least partly it’s simply because the screamers had gotten three years older and matured a little, and were less likely to scream at the new-look Beatles, with the mustaches that made them seem more adult. And at the same time, The Monkees had taken over as the new band for the original Beatlemaniacs’ younger scream-age sisters to scream at.

They were also locked away in a studio in one country instead of being in large stadiums in towns and cities around the world, something that would change the dynamics for all the fans that would have continued screaming. There’s less incentive for 25,000 fans to get together, travel across the seas and scream at a door.

Interesting. But what about the girls who in 1966 and thereafter were the same young age? I recall seeing pics of the Fab Four touring around various locales and towns for Magical Mystery Tour and you see them with no mobs of fans. Is the answer as cynical as that their management + the media could just turn this cultural phenomenon on and off like a light switch?

I dunno about that. But it’s maybe worth noting that whereas the Beatles are depicted as being chased constantly in their first film; and yet by the time of “Help !” one year later, we don’t see them pursued by screamie teenies at all – they’re admittedly too busy being pursued by bumbling scientists and crazy Eastern religious cultists, of course. But its as though they’re just taken for granted, more likely to be shyly waved at by their middle-aged housewife neighbors than chased by teenagers.

Why were the Beatles chased? Well, that’s rather silly to ask! I mean, if you were a teen then and you saw four handsome British men who were talented, could croon romantic songs to you and look like absolute dreamboats, wouldn’t you? Well, it doesn’t matter if you would, because THEY sure did! 🙂
This is also in a time where rock stars genuinely didn’t have security of nearly any sort. If someone saw you, you could get a whole block to notice rather quickly.
It also shouldn’t be understated that in the US, the four Beatles were each considered incredibly exotic, in so far as they were the first popular “British” act over here in America. They looked different, they sounded different, they acted different – everything about them was new, bold and exciting. Something for the youth that they had never seen before. It was like seeing history in the making even back then. Teens KNEW they were witnessing something. Heaven knew what exactly, but most knew they had to stop at nothing to see it. Note that word, “See”! People were so frenzied that you didn’t care how they “SOUNDED” as much as just the thrill of beholding them! Every time the lads shook their heads and went “Woo!” crowds would go absolutely bananas. Even so much as Paul’s bashful little attempts to say “Uh. H-hello!” would make them erupt. It was as if they had a mesmerizing aura to them. Something even boybands today can’t even quite replicate.
Heck, just look at this emote!
See that? That’s an actual face from an actual fan! Four average guys made this person make that face. You can’t fake that! If you’re in her state of mind, you’d chase them too!

And of course, the phenomenon didn’t originate with The Beatles – but the effect was surely multiplied or squared, since there were FOUR times as many Beatles as there were individuals like Elvis of a decade prior, or Sinatra the decade before that.
