Not as many I don’t think. And there would be be one less marine biologist in the future unless John/George had another kid who wanted to be a marine biologist.

This isn’t a “want to know more info” type question. Just a what if… but I don’t think it fits properly in the What If game.If Paul had died in 1980 instead of John and Ringo had died in 2001 instead of George, do you think John and George would have carried on the Beatles brand/name/myth as much as Paul and Ringo have? What do you think would be different than the way things are now? Would there be all these remixes and re-releases?
I rather suspect that John and George had a much less rosy perspective of their legacy than Paul and Ringo. That’s all I’m gonna say.

Having a day off on their first US tour. Most tours would include at least a couple of days off. The majority of these saw nothing much of note happen, apart from maybe a flight to the next city. Sometimes events of note would happen – such as meeting Elvis in 1965, the party that inspired She Said in the same year, or the Key West day off on 10 September 1964 which was referenced in Paul’s Here Today . But those two were just days off where they relaxed and recharged their batteries.
Or else they had an orgy on those days off – plenty of drink, drugs and groupies to gorge on.

A really odd question.
In an interview, I think around 1963, John said he didn’t like using the word ‘just’ in a song, does anyone know what interview it was? It sounds odd but I know I read it as I remember being surprised when I later heard “I just need someone to love” in ‘With A Little Help From My Friends ‘.
Obviously John sang songs like ‘Just Because ‘ and ‘I Just Don’t Understand’ and wrote ‘All I’ve Got To Do ‘ so hey ho, take what you want from whatever you like.
I also remember John knocking a song (possibly by Paul and Paula or Elvis on John’s solo appearance on ‘Juke Box Jury’) due to the lyrics and mentioning crap rhyming like using the word Jim. What makes me laugh is the brief dialogue from the start of take 7 of ‘Baby’s In Black ‘ where Paul is quickly singing the lyrics “I think of her but she thinks only of him, and though it’s only a whim she thinks of him” only for John to add “and her name is Jim”.
Note: A search on Google brings up the quote:
“Well, I like their first record (Hey Paula), because I like the octave singing — her singing, you know, one above him. And it wasn’t bad. I didn’t buy it. And the second one, you know, wasn’t worth bothering. And this.. this has ‘Jim’ in, you know. All these American records are always about Jim and Bobby and Alfred and all this.”

What if the Beatles had made their 1967 film instead about Sgt Pepper ? It would have been the mother of all entertainment packages – groundbreaking album, partnered with a movie!
The concept about the album could have been played out in the movie too – it could have chronicled the Beatles playing different personas as Sgt Pepper ‘s band…
Would have made for interesting viewing…

Isn’t there a ‘What if the Beatles…’ thread?
But yeah, that would have been interesting. I think I almost like Pepper better as a movie in my head, though, because I doubt the Beatles would have had the discipline to properly carry out the concept of the album in visual format.

You make a very good point. Quite a bit of discipline would have been required to pull it off well and I agree that the Beatles probably wouldn’t have had enough.

There was a plan to make a “making of…” television special at one stage, which is why the 10th February A Day In The Life orchestra overdub session was filmed, but the plan was soon abandoned.

I’d have to agree with Beatlebug, with the caveat that it depended on the person; while it became a less familiar term in straight journalism, people like George Martin, Neil Aspinall, and others who’d been part of the inner circle, often continued to refer to them as “the boys”.
