I’ve been thinking about this “top 10 pop album” list that has been compiled by the Vatican, and I wonder what put the Beatles’ Revolver at #1. Could it be that they also compiled a “top ten” list of religious references in Beatles’ lyrics?
Mr. Moonlight: “…I pray and pray more each day”…
Happiness Is A Warm Gun : “Mother Superior jumped the gun”…
Lady Madonna : “Sunday morning creeping like a nun”…
Eleanor Rigby : “Father McKenzie, writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear”…
Eleanor Rigby , again: “…picks up the rice in a church”…
Run For Your Life : “Let this be a sermon”…
The Inner Light : “Without looking out of your window, you could know the ways of Heaven”…
Come Together : “…He one holy roller”…
All You Need Is Love : “There’s no one you can save that can’t be saved”…
I Am The Walrus : “…pornographic priestess”…
There are probably some better examples, but I’ve got to go now. Please feel free to add them.

^^That ROCKS, @Bungalow Bob!
Of course all good men on the straight-and-narrow should stay away from the woman who has the Devil In Her Heart .
Gotta resist temptation! Her lips are really thrilling.

Devil In Her Heart ? No, she’s an angel sent to me.
You Can’t Do That : “Do I have to tell you one more time I think it’s a sin”…
Yesterday : “I believe”…
Something : “You know I believe and how”…
Rocky Raccoon : “…Gideon’s Bible… to help with good Rocky’s revival”
Lend Me Your Comb: “I’ve got to confess”…
(I’ve been thinking of these all dang day, running Beatle lyrics through my head, combing for religious references, no matter how obscure or oblique. Christ, you know it ain’t easy.)

George sang Long, Long, Long to God .
Does anyone have a Miscellaneous question about the Beatles?

@Hey Jude ! George and Paul had an extremely strained relationship after The Beatles split until the last months of George’s life. George often saw Paul as the condescending older brother. Much is shown about their relationships with each other by how much they worked together after the split. John, George and Ringo all worked with each other. Though John and George were having a bit of spat at the time of John’s death, there’s little doubt that they would have sorted things out had John not been taken from us in such a stupid and senseless way. Ringo was the only one happy to work with Paul after the split. There is only one instance of George and Paul “working” together after the split (ignoring The Threetles Anthology sessions), and that was when Paul, Linda and Denny Laine added backing vocals to George’s tribute to John, All Those Years Ago.
@StrawberryFieldsForever Yes, Yoko still lives at The Dakota (among other homes). While Olivia, Paul and Ringo may well have all stayed there, none has ever lived at The Dakota.

Is it true that George was uneasy with Paul after the breakup till his final days
That’s often the conventional view, fueled by George’s uneasiness with the Anthology project. If you read various threads on the board about Paul and George, however, you’ll see it’s up for debate. I personally believe that they had reconciled years before George’s death.

I should have worded it better…I meant where do Olivia, Paul and Ringo live now, as in which city/country? Thanks for the answer though!

I think Olivia still lives at the Friar Park house she shared with George.
Paul has several residences- probably a London one, maybe he still has that farm in Scotland. He and Linda lived in Arizona off and on in the ’90s. Others will have more on this than I in terms of Paul’s houses.
Ringo lives somewhere in the Los Angeles area, but also has a couple of other residences.

Didn’t “Not Guilty ” require 102 takes before they finally discarded it? And do we count that one?

There is a bit of confusion over whether or not it was 101 or 97 takes before reduction(s) made it Take 102. From John C. Winn’s ‘That Magic Feeling’.
Mark Lewisohn, apparently relying on John Barrett’s tape log, reports that takes went as far as 101 that night, with 99 being chosen as “best.” The session sheet tells a different story: Take 97 is chosen as “best.” The session sheet tells a different story: Take 97 is the last to appear on reel E69829 and lasts 4:16. Takes 98–101, on
E69830, all have a length of 4:16 and are thus probably reductions of take 97. Take 99 was indeed temporarily marked as a “best” reduction, but a new reduction was done at the start of the August 9 session. This combined the bass and drums to one track and the guitar and harpsichord to a second. That evening, overdubs of further electric guitar and drums fillled the third track. The new guitar over-dub was played by George, seated in the control room while his amp was miked from the far end of an echo chamber. A second bass performance was supposedly also added, but if so, it’s undetectable.

By comparison, how many takes were there of Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da?

‘Ob-La-Di/Da’ got up to take 23, Maxwell ‘s Silver Hammer’ was recorded in 21 takes but again there were numberous reductions and overdub sessions. ‘Long Long Long’ had 67 takes along with the overdubs and reductions.
‘Sexy Sadie ‘ has a take 107 and with reductions take 111 – however it jumped from take 47 to 100 with none in between for a remake.
Remember that not all of these takes were complete, many were false starts or broke down.
‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun ‘ was recorded in 70 takes. With reductions ‘I Will ‘ finished on take 68.

Ringo also has a house in Monaco I think, and I’m sure he also has one in England somewhere.

One of my professors at the university was from Liverpool and once chatting with him he mentioned that Paul still had a house there; that was in 2005 I think. Does anybody know where he lives most of the time?
