This could be a place where looking at tons of Beatles pictures would actually work out.

I know that John and Yoko dealt with the Occult to some level. Were/are the other Beatles involved in the occult?

They all did to certain extents. You have to remember that black magic guru Aleister Crowley was on the cover of Pepper. It does also depend on your definition of occult though. At its truest, it means any religious practice not approved of by the Roman Catholic Church, as pagan means any religion that isn’t Roman Catholicism.
You have to remember that both are loaded words. Their interest in Eastern religions was pagan, while their practising Eastern forms of religious practice – such as meditation – had them opening themselves up to occult practices.

Undoubtedly, Paul and George. While they came to an understanding during George’s last years, but it was a very complicated relationship.
The best relationship was George and Ringo’s (despite the whole Maureen thing).
Anyway, anyone know which album this letter is about:
I should know but I’m having a mindblank.

So I’ve heard a lot of people on this forum say that there are 220 ‘canon’ Beatles recordings. In this context, ‘canon’ would mean all the UK albums, Past Masters , and Magical Mystery Tour . This does not include Real Love , Free As A Bird , Anthology, Let It Be … Naked, LOVE, Live At The BBC , etc. Anyway, I have all of the ‘canon’ stuff, and I put it all into a monster playlist (minus Yellow Submarine ‘s repeat songs and instrumentals), and the number only came out to 217, not 220. So is there something I’m missing? Or is 220 just an estimate or a rounded number?
Basically, what I’m asking is how many ‘canon’ Beatles recordings are there?

It depends on what you view as canon. There is much talk about that in the Songs area when there was a canon poll.

I guess I would consider what I said in the last post to be canon. The U.K. Albums, Past Masters , Magical Mystery Tour . Maybe if I counted the Sgt. Pepper inner groove and Can You Take Me Back as separate songs, it would raise the count.

The canon is 220 recordings issued between Love Me Do and Let It Be , @limitlessundyinglove. Some pass under the radar if you’re doing it precisely as tracks appear on albums. The full 220 can be found here. While I can’t think of the 3rd one you’re missing, one would be the Sgt. Pepper Run-Out Groove, while another would be the White’s Album link track Can You Take Me Back?.

Definitely not, @limitlessundyinglove. Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey! is a part of Kansas City . It is not counted separately. I wonder whether you’re missing one of the single versions?

I know I don’t have the single version of Help , but that’s because it’s not part of the cd catalog. Can’t think of anything else though. I know I have the separate single versions of Love Me Do , Let It Be , Get Back , Wildlife Across The Universe , and the German language songs.

@limitlessundyinglove , I did something similar during the poll and was also one song off. It turned out that I wasn’t counting the Abbey Road medley as a separate song.

Yep, that’s what I was forgetting, @sigh butterfly, @limitlessundyinglove.
There was a conversation at the time about how to handle the medley. There is an argument to treat it as a whole, and there is am argument to judge its parts, so we decided to do both.
On bringing up the last poll, I am working on, and hope to post for consultation within the week, the non-canon list, working up to the non-canon poll beginning in August.
