Put The Beatles back on YouTube by signing this petition. If we can get enough signatures, we can not just get all their music and videos back on YouTube, but we can also open a door for a younger generation of people who want to become Beatles fans by allowing their music to be easily accessible and convenient, even for people who don’t own vinyl records, CD, or any other format to view the music on but a computer.

While I agree with the sentiment…
There is an official Beatles artist account on YouTube where stuff can be posted if Apple chooses and does so. Not to mention it is against copyright law and the TOS of YouTube for anyone else but the official outlet to post them. 1 and 1+ just came out with the clips and promo films beautifully restored, which you can buy and have for your very own. They don’t want everyone out there ripping them and putting them up.

I saw we get Apple to put up the music at a speed faster than one video every 2 months. No reason not to since they can make money off YouTube when they put it up.

I know where you’re coming from, but remember, other bands have all their songs posted to YouTube by people who aren’t the company themselves. Also, copyright law states that it is legal to use this stuff for non profit use, which means putting their songs on YouTube would be following this law. Plus, don’t you think that Apple would’ve put all their songs on YouTube before or immediately after they took them all down. I still prefer YouTube even though I still own my old record collection (which is mostly 70’s Hard Rock (Queen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, KISS, Alice Cooper, 70’s ZZ Top, etc), my older brother is the one who has all of the 60’s rock, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, which all originally came from my mother) because isn’t it better to just put in say “Iron Man” and “Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey” than having to look across the wall (I have my vinyl wallmounted) to find Paranoid, carefully removing the glass, carefully getting the record out, putting on the player, than carefully putting it back in the sleeve, back in the glass, finding The Beatles (The White Album ), and doing the same with that. Also, similar to Star Wars special edition, I want to hear it the way I heard it when I was 4, I don’t want the British version or extra touches or repanning. Even if Ringo misses a note, I want to hear it. The only 2 flaws I have with the U.S. stereo releases is that I’m Down is missing and on the cover to A Hard Day’s Night , The Beatles look like Wilson from Home Improvement.

If I were Apple, I’d put it up all at once. I’d start with individual songs from their original unedited U.S. stereo releases (that’s how I grew up with them), then I’d put up the original unedited U.S. stereo albums, then the original unedited U.S. singles, the original unedited U.S. version of all 5 movies, then I’d go to individual songs from the original unedited U.K. stereo releases, than the original unedited U.K. stereo albums, then the original unedited U.K. stereo singles, the original unedited U.K. version of all 5 movies, then individual songs from their original unedited U.S. mono releases, then I’d put up the original unedited U.S. mono albums, then the original unedited U.S. mono, then I’d go to individual songs from the original unedited U.K. mono releases, than the original unedited U.K. mono albums, then the original unedited U.K. mono singles, then I’d go for the post 1970 releases, then the special editions (AKA 1987 remasters), then I would finally just let everyone post what they want, all in less than a week (less than eight days).

The biggest reason for the catalogue not being on YouTube any longer is that the Beatles are on streaming sites and Apple want the royalties; spotify, amazon, itunes and all the other streaming sites pay far higher royalties than YouTube. Why give it all to you for free when they can make you pay – or go hunting, which most folk wont do.
Even if a million people signed the petition Apple wouldn’t pay any attention. When was the last time they listened to the fans?

The Beatles would’ve done none of this if it weren’t for the fans. They would’ve never put out the American or mono discographies and they certainly would’ve never reunited and recorded two new songs in addition to releasing an entire album of previously unreleased tracks. If the fans didn’t care and just wanted the UK stereo releases in their 1987 state, Apple would’ve kept it that way.

The reason was it all sold (in vary degrees of amount) and was as inoffensive and harmless to the brand as possible; the fans were clambering for outtakes, BBC recordings, remasters, video promos, mono mixes, US box sets etc for years. Apple didnt suddenly open their ears and listen for 5 minutes – if they had they might have done a better job. Fans are still shouting for the remaining BBC tracks, album-by-album box sets, more outtakes, the ‘Let It Be ‘ DVD, Shea and a whole load of other stuff and will be out of voice before they see them.

Good point. I wonder why they only put the US albums on CD and not on vinyl. If they released the entire US discography (including Sgt. Pepper onwards, as Revolver is not the last Beatles album released for 4 years) unedited on 180 gram vinyl for a good price, I would actually buy it, and that’s coming from a guy who hasn’t bought an album since Metallica’s And Justice For All came out (I like metal in addition to The Beatles). When blank cassettes became cheaper, I’d record the album playing and just listen to it that way, then I went to CD copying, then Napster, and then YouTube. The only format I’ve ever bought music on is vinyl (I bought lots of blank cassettes and CD’s, but none with prerecorded music on them). Same with movies, the last time I bought a movie on any format was the 1989 Batman on VHS. After that, I would just get a tripod and a movie camera and film the movie that way or just tape it from TV. Later on, I went to DVD copying, and then the internet. The only reason I still have my old records is to hang them on the wall to show off.

Little reason for Apple to put all the promos on YouTube at the minute considering they released the ‘1’ DVD(s) 6 months ago.
I’d love to see the music back on YouTube and thought it was daft to take it off, I just understand the reasoning. It should be noted however that albums are beginning to reappear.

I’d really like to put some Beatles material on YouTube.
A: If I did, do you think I’d get my video removed and or get a copyright strike
B: How should I go with this

Yip. For some reason Apple ignored a few originals like the dartless ‘Help ‘ clip.

Unless you bury them (dont use Beatles, song title etc – which means it would be hard for folk to discover) there is a good chance Apple/YouTube will find them and either get your videos removed or have the copyright notice struck thru them.

I’d do so with caution, particularly since Apple is being so strict. For an example, about five or six years ago I had my channel shut down because of one little clip from the Oprah show. Harpo (her company) does not mess. Since then, I’ve not posted anything like that, I use this account mainly to watch now. See, if they’d asked me to just take it down I would have no problem. But I logged on to find my whole channel gone. You will either a) find your videos muted, no sound or b) your account closed down like mine was.
You could try to make them less searchable by not using song title, “Beatles”, or any other qualifying information that Apple might look for as MMM stated but should they find them, you’ll probably get a copyright strike.
And yes, there are things not on the DVD / Blu Rays. Perhaps if fans are “noisy” enough and ask enough they’ll put more things on the official channel.

Maybe Apple are waiting for 19 years to pass before they go back and alter the release. Or we’ll get the super deluxe where they charge us £40 for upgrades and a couple of additional promos.
