This is the official “poor grammar thread!” If there’s grammar in songs that annoys you, post it here! (I’m sure we’ve all been bothered by Not Guilty and Live And Let Die before). If you want to rewrite a song so it has bad grammar, go for it! (Just please put it under a spoiler so the rest of us won’t die from shock and horror).
I’ve never been bothered by ‘Not Guilty ‘ or ‘Live And Let Die ‘ to such an extent that I have no idea what the issue is, same goes for ‘If I Fell ‘.
Surely most songs have grammatical issues but such things don’t bug me, the spelling does tho. Crazy is with a ‘c’, sticking a ‘k’ at the front instead doesn’t make it crazier, only that the individual responsible should be boiled in hot sugary water (tho I doubt* you can be boiled in cold sugary water so adding hot is pretty needless).
*I say doubt as someone will probably come and explain that you can be boiled in cold sugary water.

@Timothy
“Poor grammer” would actually just be poor spelling!
Many a songwriter seems to have a problem knowing when to use “I” and when to use “me”
I guess they were out that day in school.

Dylan irritates me as he clearly just finds one word he likes then gets the dictionary out for all words that rhyme with it and repeats it for however long despite it not being any good.

I assume it has to be in the lyrics because there’s nothing wrong with the titles for Not Guilty and Live And Let Die .

Well, in Not Guilty there’s a line:
I’m really sorry for your aging head
But like you heard me said
Not guilty.
And in Live And Let Die it’s:
But if this ever changin’ world
In which we live in

I’m honestly surprised I’ve ever noticed this before. But thanks, it’s probably going to annoy me now whenever I listen to the song lol.

It should be in which we live. The second in is redundant. I personally have made this type of mistake many times.
this is the little stuff that drives me crazy.

Artistic licence guys, geez! It’s a pop song – of course they’re going to change the rules of English so they can get their rhyming couplet!

Obviously of COURSE we know that. That’s not the point of this thread. You don’t have to be in this thread, you know, @The Hole Got Fixed.

Just making sure you know that
I will still read this thread (not just because I’m a completionist) but because it reveals a new level to my favourite songs

If you analyse most songs the grammar will be out, apply the rules of the Queens proper English and you’ll be rewriting almost every song written for who knows how many decades.
Didn’t bother me before, won’t bother me now.
