What if George Harrison had released a solo album in 1969, while the Beatles were still together? | Fab Forum | The Beatles Bible

I’ve got a blog that tackles lost or unreleased albums by the artists I enjoy, and I’ve recently tackled one I think you people would enjoy: a 1969 George Harrison solo album.

 

As most of you who have seen Get Back probably know, at one point John suggested that George record a solo album to “let all of his songs out” and come back reenergized for the next Beatles project. For a myriad of reasons, this ended up not happening, even if Harrison seemed to favor this idea and even held a solo demo session on his birthday that February.

 

So, in order to create this fantasy album, I put together the best songs George wrote between 1966 and May 1969 that weren’t used by the Beatles, and to avoid the heavily Spectorized and reverb-y sound of the All Things Must Pass album, only used alternate takes of the songs. Here’s what I ended up with:
