@Beatlebug You did a great version of For You Blue and your drawing is fantastic. George would have loved it.

Remember this post? I appear to have taken my own advice. What do you think, @Getbackintheussr?

Oh, my beating Paulette heart. I want to touch that second picture. Can I print it out and put it on my desk at work?

I’d be honoured to help embellish the desk of the esteemed Ahhh Girl.![]()

It’s a kind of weird and kind of awesome feeling that a copy of my artwork embellishes some librarian’s desk somewhere in the middle of America.
I’ll definitely take your drawing home with me on the day I retire, @Beatlebug. Again, thank you for this drawing. Have an apple.

So the letter “E” on my keyboard is a little sticky and sometimes doesn’t activate when I don’t hit it just right, leading to a lot of very boring typos and one amusing typo the other day when I typed “the batles” by accident and then realized I had to draw the Beatles as goths…
ft. George’s vampire teeth
And if you’re wondering what The Batles sound like, well, that’s a good question. I’m imagining lyrically some of John’s whinier confessional work, e.g. “I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party ” or “Yer Blues “, and sonically something like this song by XTC, which has a sort of “if the Beatles were post-punk” kind of vibe to it…

Amazing…I really wanna hear a “Meet The Batles!” 12-song debut now!
Beatlebug, if you want immediate post-punk Beatles, with tuneful and spiky dual guitars, plus harmonies plus a huge dose of eccentric Syd Barrett surrealism from singer Robyn Hitchcock, may I recommend The Soft Boys

Oooh…. thanks for the rec! (I’m quite hard on a post-punk, new wave, 1977-1984ish kick right now. Japan is my current favorite band.) I do hear the “Beatles as post-punk” vibe totally, but this is definitely a little more driving and hard-edged than I imagine my hypothetical Batles would probably sound. It would have to be a lot more dark & a t m o s p h e r i c to be appropriately goth-y, I think.
Eyyy their cover of “Vegetable Man” is really good! Syd Barrett is so idiosyncratic he’s nigh impossible to cover, but these lads “get it”.
