That’s a really great read, and something I’ve never really thought about before.
Also another interesting thing, though this may be simply conjecture, is that I would argue that Paul was much more straight than John ever was. There’s plenty of evidence to suggest John was a tad insecure about his sexuality. He referred to Paul as his “wife” and even Yoko said once he told her he only liked her because she looked like a man in drag. Yoko also said he never seemed to get over breaking up with Paul and he was always talking about him.
Paul on the other hand only ever said they were very close friends, and denied he felt any romance between them.
Makes me wonder if John was a bit self-conscious, which is why he tried to hide behind this masculine façade, unlike Paul who didn’t feel the need.
