(note: In keeping with the ‘Beatles Bible’ 2014 forum clean-up meanmistermustard merged two threads together on the 10th August 2014 (thread one consisted of posts 1 -> 59, thread two posts 60 -> 77). The title has also been adapted to include ‘Love Me Do (Spankox Remixes)’ to help with any future searches).
The Beatles are back with a new EP that promises to become another historic landmark in the the career of the greatest band of all times. The new EP is titled “The Beatles Are Back” and includes four brand new remixes of “Love Me Do ”, the band’s first hit originally released in 1962, featuring completely new arrangements and the original vocals of the band.
The release of the new Beatles’ EP “The Beatles Are Back” has been set for January 27, 2013; it will be available for pre-order from January 23. These are the first ever Beatles’ modern and commercial remixes on the market and they have been created using the most advanced computer technology to isolate and extract the Fab Four’s voices from the original studio masters.

You can here samples on itunes and my word its a piece of s**t (in my opinion). 3 mixes where they have taken the original Love Me Do and added over it God damn awful s**t that gives you a head-ache after 4 secods. Think cheap dance music. The fourth track is the original Love Me Do with Ringo on drums (which is probably cowering in shame for being on this release).
If this is where the no copyright law is taking us with music can someone please contact whichever department can change it and play them this as they would amend it in a heartbeat. I dont believe that the beatles music is touchable but when its as bad as this i get offended.

I never understood why copyrights had a fixed lifetime..it makes no sense that, in this case for example, EMI put in all the time, effort, and money into the Beatles years ago, only now people can f**k around and bastardize it however they want without consequence. It’s idiotic!

Strange. First of all I’m not a spammer, but a young fan of the Beatles, my name is Vanessa. I thought all Beatles’ fans were open minded and innovative people, instead here I see there’s people who like to keep listening to the same songs over and over since 50 years and insult the others who don’t. You remind me of the ones that in the ’50 considered “noise” rock’n’roll music. Boo. Do you think that if the Beatles were still together today they would still play “Love Me Do ” like 50 years ago These new mixes offer a different and new approach to the music of the Beatles. You might like them or not, but it’s a tribute to them. Play them to your kids, nephews, grandchildren and listen to what they’ll tell you. Peace!

Firstly, Vanessa, this should have been put into the “Pimp Your Own Stuff” thread, not announced as if it were a new officially sanctioned release. Secondly, while I am no great fan of people other than The Beatles remixing The Beatles (and often times not even them), I accept that in this internet age remixes will happen, but 99.9% do not attempt to make money off of them. We do not object to what you are doing, others have done the same and others will do the same (to varying amounts of applause). We object to how you are doing it. Why do you need to make money from something you have no rights to? Why do you need to give the impression of a sanctioned release and not admit that you are a fan playing with something that is out of copyright? Why could you not just be honest and admit in your first post that it was a fan remix without access to the original master? Had you been more honest, and not asking for payment, you would have have a different response.

Im open to remixes but if they are trully awful then i will say so. Just because its the Beatles updated doesnt mean its immune to criticism.
I posted this in another thread titled New Beatles Mixes.

I dont think its as black or white as all remixes are wrong however most are awful.
I dont have a problem with a fan remix of Love Me Do , go ahead and do it but expect comments that might not be all that positive, 1 reason being what you are playing it is very precious to many people including myself so its dangerous ground to be walking on. I personally prefer remixes that show some creativity, for example not looping 4 lyrics from a song around a boring beat for 7 minutes and add in some catchy words and sounds, and not taking the song and overdubbing s**t on top. Instead change the feel of the song, use other tracks and fly bits and pieces from elsewhere, make it like an experience where the ear is picking up bits and pieces and you have to think where that part came from. Thats why i loved what Von Bontee did, it was an experience that had taken a lot of time and effort and you could hear that.
The problems i have with the Love Me Do remixes are
1. They sound dreadful. Its the commercial Ringo version with crap dubbed over.
2. They are charging for it. Sorry but dont flog unofficial remixes at a price. Many fan created remixes are created by fans for the sheer joy of expressing themselves thru art. That screams of a rip off hastily shoved out since Love Me Do is now copyright free.
3. The description as posted in the first post of that thread is bullshit. “The Beatles are back with a new EP that promises to become another historic landmark in the the career of the greatest band of all times.” Overhyped marketing drivel (and only actually going to be a landmark if its how low can someone take the Beatles music). “4 brand new remixes” – no there are three. “New arrangements… using the most modern technology to isolate and extract the Fab Four’s voices from the original studio masters” – no its the c.v. sped up a touch, overdubbed and played about with a bit, probably in someones home studio for 10 minutes. It screams of rip-off and i hate that.
Mainly the problem i have is that the ‘Beatles are Back remixes’ are dreadful. I’ll give Strawberry’s efforts every chance and come with an open ear.

I’m allergic to seafood. I don’t need a taste to know it’s going to make me vomit. And however you wanna defend it, you’re still exploiting a copyright loophole and trying to make money from something you’ve defaced but don’t own.

Hi Vanessa. So you’re just a simple ol’ innocent Beatles fan, who registered to promote this iTunes release, and chose the artwork for your avatar. Oh, and you work for everness.com – the company behind The Beatles Are Back. And you’re really not a spammer?
Riiiiiiight.
This is truly horrible, though. This sort of SL2/Prodigy-style remixing would have sounded dated in 1992 (the original Love Me Do actually sounds less dated). You’re clearly not a fan of The Beatles, otherwise you’d have a bit more respect.

Jeezus, that was putrid…I need ear bleach to cleanse it from my memory!
I don’t care how open minded one is (and I try to be as open-minded as I can be), who in their right mind would not only choose to listen to that, but to pay money for it?
What next, some toddler crayon doodles on the Mona Lisa to make it “fresh and exciting” for the 21st century?

Oh! My! God ! The Beatles Are Back! Are you having a laugh! If they are all back, they’re looking to do a lynching. You’re right about Beatles fans being open minded, but we’re not f*cking stupid (excuse my French)! It’s like that crazy pensioner that decided to help out her church by restoring their Jesus fresco. If you haven’t seen how well that turned out:

Did you buy the EP? If not (like I think), how can you say these things? Buy the EP, listen to the music first (not just the the low quality previews)… Give some time to appreciate it…… THEN comment. Otherwise it is like you wanna talk about food without tasting it.
Yikes! First we are not open minded, now we are stupid.
My dear Vanessa – here is something equally as painful for you to listen to…absolutely free of charge. And please don’t let the message be lost on you.
