Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I really think this thread should be in “Pimp Your Own Stuff” rather than “Getting Better ” as it has nothing at all to do with improving this site or forum, but is instead an invitation to go elsewhere.
My opinion, @Joe, if this thread can’t be moved, it should be locked.
I hate it when people try to suggest that this forum gets better by asking Forumpudlians to spend their time elsewhere. I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again.

This is fair enough, but I wouldn’t lock it if it can’t be moved. It can’t really hurt to keep it open in case there are any queries. Besides, the Discord has been going for a couple of weeks and if anything I’ve noticed more activity on the forum than less. We’ve also been pretty encouraging for people over there to come join us on here.

Locking it here, @QuarryMan, wouldn’t prevent a new thread for it being created in Pimp Your Stuff. I’m not suggesting there should be no thread for it, just that this section of the forum is the wrong place for it.

I moved the thread. Is the person who started this thread still active on the discord server?

If I can add to what “Coltrane” said, I don’t think the Discord is drawing people away from the BB – it’s mostly people posting pics and memes. (Plus it’s steered a few worthwhile posters here.)
The discourse there is more frivolous and chatty, and it’s nice that there’s an alternative outlet for that sort of thing.

Also, some of the new members have ended up joining the BB, which is a plus.

We will continue to shill the BB over there in fact, one person mentioned they’d been using it for years as an information source, which was cool to know.

Thanks very much for the move, @Ahhh Girl.
This just seems a more appropriate place for it to me, as what started as a discussion quickly turned into a real thing.
As to whether it has affected the forum, it’s been a while since I’ve noticed the recent forum posts list on the main forum page including posts that are 12 hours old or more, something that’s happened several times since the Discord was started, and there’s been more than one comment from different Forumpudlians (including at least one of those who has suggested it’s made no difference above) that there’s been less posting here.
Of course, it may just be coincidence…
Glad that some of those active there are trying to steer people here though, obviously, and have had some success…

I haven’t noticed a difference personally. The recent posts slider seems to always be full up whenever I log on, but maybe that’s to do with the frequency at which I visit. I think I was in the conversation you are referring to, but as I recall the Discord was also pretty quiet for those couple of days too. I think it was a time when several of the most frequent posters in both were busier than usual.

Actually, I’ve noticed that when the Forum is especially quiet, the Discord seems to be particularly quiet as well. For instance, this morning I had only five unread threads on the BB, and only one or two unread threads on the Discord.
Also, most of what we talk about in the Discord isn’t especially Forum-worthy discussion– there’s a lot of posting random Beatles pictures and fangirling over them, and quite a bit of off topic discussion. If I have something important/Beatley to say, I always bring it to the forum.

There are always the same amount of posts on the list, @QuarryMan, at least when you’re not on the mobile display. My comment was on the time gap between top and bottom.
Just earlier today, the most recent new post was three hours old, and the one at the bottom of the list was twelve hours old.

Seemed to me that the forum was a bit sparse for the last coupla months before Matt’s discord even began, but I can’t be sure. *shrugs*
