eppermint lounge | Fab Forum | The Beatles Bible

In 1964, our family vacationed in NYC. We stayed at the Knickerbocker Hotel. The worlds fair, was the main reason that we went that year. The beatles were in town, the same weekend. Walking down times square, a limo pulled up with a mob of screaming girls seemingly attatched. We were across the street when they run from the car, into the hotel. The lobby of our hotel had an enterance into the peppermint lounge. After a long day at the worlds fair, back at the hotel. An accordian door was shut to the enterance of the louge. With live music comming from the lounge, my older brother and I peered through a crack in the door. Our veiw was looking at the stage, on the right. With what looked like  the beatles and sounding just like the beatles. My brother informed me, at the time, that they were a lookalike band calling them selves the american beatles. Could that have been the actual beatles on stage, while partying at the peppermint lounge? Did they ever take the stage there? Thanks
